I posted this awhile back but had my usual panic attack and deleted it after it only had one comment… I always worry that everyone hates it and is just too nice to say anything.
I have to admit it’s one of my favorite things I’ve written so far.
.
.
Instrumentation:
Choir (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass)
Piano
Strings (Violin, Viola, Cello, Bass)
Tympani
So instead of posting it and sitting back in anxious panic, waiting for comments to show up, I will do this:
I will post it, then I will walk away. I will go out to the car and drive somewhere many miles away. Maybe I’ll have dinner, maybe I’ll just park somewhere and try to find an hour of life that isn’t crusted with dread and pain. Possibly I will listen to the radio or a CD…. and when it is dark enough to need the headlights, I will drive back home and see if anyone has listened and commented.
If no one has, then I guess it can be a sign that this is a musical fingerprint which fits nobody except myself.
See you in a few hours, maybe.

I”d love to hear this one live.
Me too!
Cordless, never be embarrassed or worried by what people think to your art, it is nice if/when it speaks to others for sure. Compistion can be very selfindulgent and don’t always push everyone’s buttons like it does out own when writting it but, always trust your instints and inspiration!!
I was told years ago when I failed all my exams at school id never make a good musician/composer… since then I have became a secondary school music teacher and freelance composer, it’s a nice feeling to prove people wrong lol. Composition can take years to perfect the art, it is one of the most technical of all the art forms so don’t be so hard on your self! Even a bad composition is good practise so it is never a waste.
I have listened to your piece four times and there are some gorgeous moments in there. A very brave orchestration!! Being a small ensemble it dont have much to reliy on other than it’s melodies and harmonies, I think it works very well. You should be proud of this :0)
I have been composing for nearly 30 years.
Wow, that is long! 😮 that is commitment and a half
I was about to comment the last time, then you pulled a Harry Houdini on me and it disappeared. What did I say last time? YOU WILL NEVER KNOW! NEVER FIND OUT! (Good suff.)
LOL!
Thank you. 🙂
I’ve listened to all the pieces of yours that I caught when you posted them. This is another great one, it’s very relaxing. It would fit a TV or film soundtrack.
Besides gifting us here, you should also post your music in a larger venue online so you can get more exposure. Maybe SoundCloud or YouTube.
🙂
I do have a SoundCloud account.
I’ll think of putting it there, maybe. 🙂
I listened to this and I liked it.
It sounds like background music for a nature show, maybe a program about an endangered species dying off. I could hear a narrator talking about the plight of the spotted owl, human encroachment, and a diminishing habitat as this piece plays in the periphery and sets an eerie, foreboding tone.
Thank you!
Yay for the spotted owl!
Boo for human encroachment!
This is awesome. I feel like i’m exploring the woods at night time.
Scariest woods ever!
This is really sweet. I listened to all of it and really like it. Its really dramatic. Somebody said here that it would make a good soundtrack for a movie and I agree with that. Thanks for posting it!!
keep up the brilliant work.
Yay!
Thank you.
Whew! 🙂
Hey cordless, bravo 🙂 that is very beautiful, and soothing, I even played it for my daughter who gave it 2 thumbs up, to be able to create something so beautiful is a gift, and if you take the time to compose music like that and you’re happy with it, that’s really all that matters, but you being the composer and having an obvious ear for music I can guarantee people are going to enjoy it, and as you can see by the posts, a lot of do.
Yay, and thank you both for the thumbs!
Music helps me to get some of the angst out of my system.
Either that or it helps me become better at embracing the angst.
Either one. 🙂
I like the harmony of voices in there. The choir effect is pretty cool.
Thank you!
I seem to be into writing choir stuff these past few months, for some reason.
