The truth I hold, took years to unfold, locked up and never told. Now I speak, for I am done being weak. A story I will tell,  awakening the pits of my hell.

I lay awake at night. Restless. Another sleepless night. The voices spin me around like one of those carnival rides we used to love so much. Out of control. Disoriented. Vertigo.

Heartless. *****. Worthless.

Give me a chance! Forever Alone.

Sing better. Draw better. Play better.

I’ll try harder! A disappointment.

Not pretty enough. Not smart enough. Not kind enough.

I’ll be better! Never good enough.

Hated. Unloved. Pathetic.

Give me a chance! Not wanted.

STOP!

Oh my lovely alcohol, oh how you do please me
Fill my heart with sadness, and electrifying glee.

A sweet yet bitter liquid, that seeps into my veins
You dull my mind, you free my spirit, and take away the chains.

Sloshing in your frigid flask, you ask and tease for more
With jest and greed I indulge thee, and pass out on the floor.

No memory of prior things, convulsing laughs and tears
Ups and downs, a roller-coaster, yearning for more beer.

Dancing jigs to country music, strange and quite erratic
