I sent a bullet through my skull 15 years ago on November 10th, 1997. I never did it again, came close a couple of times but I’ve tried hard never to let things get that bad again. Of course, so many things are out of our control and there’s always the day to day BS that can lead to death by a thousand cuts. Even as a small child I remember suicide being an option. If things went bad at school or with friends I remember thinking “I could always kill myself” and it made me feel better. I didn’t act on it until much later but […]
Survivor
Hi,
I am new to this sight, but wanted to share just a bit to those who are considering suicide. As a bit of background, I am a nearly 60 woman with 4 grown kids and 3 grandkids, married to the same man for over 40 years, upper middle class, fairly attractive, intelligent, witty, talented and loved. But last year all hell broke lose…..
My first time in the hospital was in Dec 2011, I self checked in because I had become obsessive about suicide and was tempting fate with pills, a loaded gun, knife to wrist and other dangerous and fatal things and ideas. I didn’t REALLY want […]
Don’t know what the hell I be on about, But from here and there, I belong nowhere….
I don’t want to come back. Chat room is mentally destroying me.. And I don’t even come here much anymore. The Suicide Project is dying out.. And me? Well, I was just one of the many members. If you have taken the time to read this, Thank you. You are probably one of the very few left trying to keep the Suicide Project torch burning. Good luck… People need this place.
But me? Well, People always say.. There is no such thing as a happy ending. I guess this is the end of my story.. :'( It’s been Interesting though, I guess. Met some amazing people..
Orangish, For one. […]
I do not know how I make it through each an every day. I am a survivor, I am strong. I have been through enough to make some people cringe.  Lately though, the thoughts are returning and things have not been alright. They have always been there, but I thought I had control over them. I no longer do.  I have to have distractions constantly. What do you do when you don’t have a television or a computer? I have a passion for sketching, but that doesn’t take you far away, actually I am sketching things that happened the other night, which makes it worse. I […]
I should start off by saying I may not be someone anyone should look to for guidance or good advice. I am a survivor of a serious suicide attempt and many days are still a struggle for me.
I haven’t read through the site enough to determine if it’s a place where most of the posters are dealing with suicidal thoughts and mental health issues or if there is a large percentage of people who are in a good place mentally and are offering up advice. It seems to be a combination of both, with the earlier making up for most of the content.
Nonetheless, […]
It’s been a while…
A long while, actually… over a year. People still respond to my last post, which means I have helped over 1,000 people that were considering suicide…
But tonight I write to you in distress. Yes, I too, though a survivor, have many struggles.
Today is my 19th birthday, and I’m alone.
I have been drinking, and thinking much more than is healthy.
I have lost so much… yet I am needed here. It hurts, and I know I’ll get through this, but at times… you just need to vent.
Take a deep breath… think of what has driven you to this […]
Is the “survivor” the one that attempts and survives OR a friend and/or fam of a person that killed themself? It is exactly 2 years today that my brother took his life. 270 to his head. Yes it was a success as far as suicide is concerned. Were there other options? I would like to think so. But I recognize he may not have felt the options were available. I only know my specific situation. I have zero right to say what others might do or think about doing. I am available to talk to, to answer questions in honesty.
It was a bread knife.
Long, cold, and serrated.
Just what I needed.
I still remember the first time I pulled that knife across my arm; I had been so, so stupid, doing it where everyone could see. It was so obvious, the four gashes on my forearm. It had been near impossible to hide them. My mom noticed the long sleeved hoodies, but I think she was too afraid to ask. It just escalated from there. I moved from bread knives, to scissors, to my shaving razor, to the box cutter my mom left lying around one day. It’s still tucked away in my box of special things.
I […]
Many of us have been told, “Your problems aren’t that bad. They don’t add up to suicide,†or, “If you only took 15 pills, you weren’t really serious.â€
We have a condition that causes others to feel uncomfortable. They reduce their discomfort by using denial, belittlement and minimization on the seriousness of our situation. While most of this denial is due to their fear concerning the possibility of our death, a part of it has another source. They may also have had or be afraid of having bad periods in their own lives, and their denial on our vulnerability to […]

When Elizabeth died, I didn’t understand what was happening. That’s not true. I knew what was happening, I just kept forgetting. And I still don’t remember most of it. Whenever I want to remember the date she died, I look it up on the internet.
This is what I remember: She was all-American. Her family was Korean. She listened to terrible pop music. Her pierced navel became infected, and she was too scared to disinfect it herself. She dated my first college boyfriend. She laughed like a child. She was failing Genetics. She rollerbladed around campus, and her helmet was too large. She fenced. […]
