A question of uttermost importance i ask to those who happen to stumble upon this post. How are we here, why this reality, is there another life after “death”. How do we feel love, why do we have emotions, why does betrayal hurt so much.
How are we here? Chemicals, electricity, not-so-random couplings of both. Did something guide those couplings? Probably.
Why this reality? I think just because it’s the current thing we inhabit. Since I believe we go through a series of “lifetimes”, this is the one we know about. I only believe in recurring lifetimes because I’ve been thumped up ‘side the head too many times by the powers-that-be not to believe them.
Love is an evolved emotion that started with the whole “caring for the mate” & ” caring for the offspring” survival drive. Because we evolved with big, fat brains that use trial & error more than inborn instincts to reach adulthood, we got a huge whammy called love. You’ve seen dogs, wolves & other animals where the male stays with a female & helps raise their litter. We have a more binding example of that. Then, society solidified into pressuring us to believe that we’re not worthy UNLESS we secure a permanent mate. I think that’s bullshit.
Betrayal hurts worse than almost anything else. Maybe because we’re designed to trust the mates we choose. Maybe because without a mate, we’ve been taught that we’re somehow defective.
We put so much trust in one person; sometimes we give that before we know them deep down inside. We know their surface, we know the face they show us, but we don’t know their secrets, their fears, their emotional baggage & how it might manifest. We think we know them, but we only know what they can or choose to divulge.
Sometimes they betray us because as they grew through time, their feelings changed. We NEVER know how time will change any of us. Sometimes they betray us because their inner damage leads them to fuck up anything good. Somewhere inside themselves, THEY don’t believe they’re worthy of good relationships, love or loyalty. So, they betray us first.
BoD! Biscuit! This one has your name on it! *whistles* c’here boy! 😛 sorry.
Brandon, these are difficult questions. You can find so many different answers on the web but I’ll do my best and tell you mine and keep it brief and simple.
1. How are we here? I have no idea. Perhaps god is like the first artist that came along. The arrogant type. A complete show-off. Maybe he decided to give his art life and so here we are.
2. Why this reality? I don’t know. Sorry.
3. Is there another life after “death”? I don’t believe in that kind of stuff. But if there really is life after death I’d spend it partying with everyone here!
4. How do we feel love? again idk maybe to comfort our small consciousness’ and to feel like we belong tethered to this strange existance. We might never know how we got here.
5. Why do we have emotions? One word. Survival. But fight-or-flight is inadequete to this present day. Also, emotions help us build relationships and bind communities. At least that’s what I read somewhere. -_-
6.Why does betrayal hurt so much? Because of love and trust.
BoD should answer these questions. I bet he knows.
