A new one and an old one

First is a new poem, written on Thursday, May 5 2011….. it pretty much explains why I’ve never owned a gun in over 50 years of life…. I’ve never wanted to hurt others….. it is titled “IF I HAD A GUN”

I’d show y’all what fun

If I had a gun

we’d never see the sun

you’d all still look for some

If I had a gun

I’d be the one you shun

If I had a gun

there’d be no “we have none”

If I had a gun

it would not be set to stun

If I had a gun

There’d be nowhere to run

If I had a gun

I’d shoot, we’d all be done

Since that is one of the latest ones I’ve written, here is one of the first ones I wrote…. it speaks to my low self esteem. It is titled “AN IMAGE”

If I take the time

to search for myself

wipe away the grime

look upon the top most shelf

Just what is it I see?

Is it green?  is it blue?

This image of me,

is what I see true?

– – – – – – – –

It’s gruesome, it’s hairy

it might even smell

it’s ugly and scary,

is it from Hell?

It’s just what I see

when I look within,

this image of me

looks full of sin.

From within comes the beast,

fearsome and tall,

ready to feast

and consume one and all.

Stand and face it?

Or should I flee?

Then I remember,

it’s just an image of me.
