I know I’ve probably posted more than anyone really cares for, but believe it or not, it has helped keep me alive….. amazing to me that in less than 3 hours of trying to sleep, I come up with two more poems. I haven’t written two poems in the previous 3 yrs.
“Tomorrow Is The Day”
=================
Tomorrow is the day.
They say it never comes.
Well that has got me bummed,
’cause tomorrow is the day.
– – – – – – – – – – – – –
Tomorrow is the day.
I want to end my life
with either rope or knife.
Tomorrow is the day.
– – – – – – – – – – – – – –
Tomorrow is the day,
they say I will get paid.
Why am I so afraid?
Tomorrow is the day.
– – – – – – – – – – – – – –
Tomorrow is the day.
My feelings have been numbed.
I’m so glad it never comes,
’cause tomorrow is the day.

“The Road I’m On”
============================
The road I’m on
is not less travelled
nor is it paved with yellow brick.
– – – – – – – – – – – – – –
The road I’m on
is not the high one,
or in the Blue Ridge Mountain sticks.
 – – – – – – – – – – – – – –
The road I’m on
is cold and lonely,
snow and ice are only half as slick.
– – – – – – – – – – – – – – –
The road I’m on
is not long and winding,
but it will make you twice as sick.
– – – – – – – – – – – – – – – –
The road I’m on
it leads to nowhere
no matter which direction you pick.

As always, thanks for the cyberspace – FTS

I love reading your poems!
I really like “The Road I’m On.”
I can really relate to the last verse. I don’t seem to see a future for me “no matter which direction” I choose.
Thanks for posting 🙂
there are references to songs in the earlier verses that you are too young for… not putting you down, just a fact.
you are welcome, thanks for reading 🙂
How did your appointment go?
Session was crap- as usual.
It was really hard for my mum to find an English speaking psychologist here. The guy’s English is is kinda laughable and in the end, I just sleep on the little couch there.
Please don’t let tomorrow be the day.
that must be frustrating for you.
tomorrow never comes 🙂
Great poems. Keep it coming. Glad it’s keeping alive and from going insane.
@GI – I can’t stop them. at least it doesn’t seem like it.
FTS your poems are freakin amazing. Just from a technical standpoint, I love the rhyme scheme of “Tomorrow is the Day”, the way the last stanza closes with the same rhyme as the first. And the rhythm (or is it called meter?) of “the Road I’m On” has almost a Shakespearian quality (like a sonnet or something?). I was lousy at English lit so I don’t know what I’m saying, but I really like these 2.
Now on to the meaning… Tomorrow is the day that never comes – I know exactly what you’re talking about. I plan it so perfectly, tomorrow… and yet tomorrow becomes today and nothing happens. Should we be relieved or horrified? Stuck in an endless ‘today’…
As for the Road I’m On… you said it. It’s not less travelled. So many of us are on this same damn road. Perfect last line… “leads to nowhere no matter which direction you pick”
Keep posting, FTS. I’ve been having some lousy days & can’t even bring myself to get online. So I’ve been missing out on what’s going on w you, vmy, everyone else… I gotta get myself together & catch up. These poems are great man.
Haha that’s true. Tomorrow does never come, but unfortunately depression follows you around regardless of time 🙁
I agree though- it’s hard for me to relate to some posts like ones about love and losing someone close because I haven’t experienced them or too young to understand the content!
In the first verse though, the “less traveled” line- could that have something to do with the Robert frost poem?
I thought they were some really great and deep poems
Yeah I’ve had some bad days this week, crying myself to sleep on more than one occaision. I too like the last verse no matter which direction I pick it ends up back where I started or nowhere. keep em’ coming
thanks everyone, I don’t know what else to do. I post, I write and thankfully there is a little interaction here.
@Scooby – you gotta be here, this place has saved me. I didn’t think it could, but so far….
@VMY – I was thinking of the book
@Wasted – I’m thinking of doing nothing but sleeping as much as I can
You have some what inspired me to try and write some poetry again
@Paul – it certainly helps me recognize and deal with feelings and emotions that I would otherwise struggle with even identifying
I am supposed to be through this but nights like this remind me I’m still in the middle of battle I should have never had to fight.
@Paul – I learned a long time ago, that for me, I will always struggle with depression. For me, there is no cure, it is a life condition. Some days, weeks, years are fine. Other days weeks years not so fine. Unfortunately, I’ve also discovered that the “not so fine” times are worse and worse each time I experience another one.
