You feel god is fake, and in so many ways… He is.
Which I deeply respect… Just religion is made by people who are desprate and hurt in life and anxiously wish to take over the world so that they can control it. Like religious parents, that abused me for years and throw me out, so I can die alone and sick. But… I don’t relate that to an all-loving entity, even if he is made up… Actually he is made up. I think he is, but just because it’s inside our heads… Doesn’t mean he is not real… Just like suicide thoughts.
Spirituality and Science however go hand in hand.
There was a scientist, who decided to conduct an experiment, going into full narcosis, and ellimating his brain activity (so he was dead.) Accoarding to mainstream science, our consciousness is a product of our own brain activity and once it’s NILL, there cannot be anything experienced.
Well that does not explain this however… The NDE (near death experience), the person in question experienced pretty much everything that had to do with his deepest joy and desires, he was his long passed away daughter, in the midsts of his NDE, when no brain actvity was recorded, he woke up to tell the experience. Who would believe him? Most other scientist do not.. I reckon you do not. Which is okay, I’m just wondering, just who’s going to kick the arse of people you think deserve to after they are dead? Or even before? The justice system? It’s not like ‘god’ kicks anyone in the butt, but it’s always a way to look at it, especially if it means… Teaching them a lesson.

You specifically told me you believed in a ‘God’ that did not love or hate anyone. Did you lie to me, Dave_N? I really don’t like being lied to…
@blacklight – what Dave believes is not required belief for you – that’s his perspective – it’s not a “lie” that HE believes all that – what you choose to believe is your own truth
I generally agree with Atlanta27 – God is non-existent – belief in god by others is very real … religion is a corrupted perversion of that belief in my opinion.
All that said – the whole point of the religious texts is simply to impress generally good moral behavior and back it up with a supernatural carrot and stick to control the masses and keep them subjugated – the lessons aren’t all bad – don’t murder, be kind, love thy neighbor, and shit … but it mostly like a medieval self help guide – you take what you need to lead a better life and you can chuck the ghost and zombie tales 😉
Why would you insult everyone who believes in something else than you do just because you have a bad experience? I sorry that happened to you, but you can’t just say its a ashame that was made up by desperate people, that’s like saying you made your explanation out of your own desperation to put your own mind at as ease be a use you couldn’t believe what others could. I’m not see he does or doesn’t but you can’t go around tellin people what they believe is bullshit.
To Dawg: I understand what you’re saying. However, my problem lies in the fact Dave_N told me the God he believes in “doesn’t love us or hate us”, yet he continues to make claims like “God still loves you”. I would never tell someone they CAN’T believe in a God that loves people. I was hoping, however, for an honest answer when I asked Dave to describe the God he believes in…
To Gayguyjordan: You’re correct in that a belief can be true even if it causes a lot of harm. However, if someone has a false belief, I think informing him/her of this is often the right thing to do.
