Hi all. I’m James from New Jersey. I’m 27, and my younger brother Henry (who was 25) killed himself last year. His suicide brought untold grief into my heart, but after a week or so I re-adjusted my view on his chosen action, as every time I’d think of him, I’d have this sensation of indescribable happiness and peace. And I realised that if he’s happy, then I should be happy for him too.
A few weeks ago I felt I can’t cope with the personal problems in my life, and I started planning my own suicide in earnest. I was going to execute my plan soon.
Last week I’ve had a very strange dream though: I dreamt that after his death Henry was “sent back” to this world (so to speak) in the form of a jelly-fish. And the jelly-fish told me: “don’t do this, brother! you’ll become like me!”
I was so disturbed by that dream, which seemed so real, that I couldn’t go back to sleep that night.
And when I went to the beach yesterday (just before the dusk), I was walking alone on the Ocean shore for maybe 40 mins, when suddenly I saw a giant jelly-fish washed out on the sandy beach. It was still alive, and when I looked into its “eyes”, I saw my brother, and its as if as he was crying. The jelly-fish (you could tell), was almost pleading with me: “please, don’t take me back to the Ocean. Let me finally die once and for all.” And I didn’t know what to do. And so I took a large pole and tore the jelly-fish apart into small chunks, so that other people don’t find it, or so that the high tide doesn’t reclaim the jelly-fish into the cold Ocean’s embrace.
Right after that, when I got home, I became so tired, that I went to bed, and I had a very vivid dream. My brother thanked me for my “charitable” (as he described it) action. He said it was imperative that his existence is finished through no will of his own (so that it doesn’t count as just another suicide), and now his eternal spirit is allowed to enter the human form again. He said he tried to reason with the Big Boss not to send him anywhere again, but the Big Boss said that’s not how things work in the Universe. The Big Boss told my brother there are no “unemployed” spirits floating around in Space. Everyone is sent to occupy some form, so as to experience life biologically with all its problems.
My brother was allowed, however, to choose his own parents this time. He said he hovered around the earth for a few hours, and then he saw an Indian couple making love somewhere on a beach in southern India. And he entered the belly of the Indian lady, and the Big Boss “sealed” the deal.
I just don’t understand why he chose to be born in India? Why didn’t he choose European or South American parents? Won’t life in India be hard for him, when he enters this world again? What about his education? Healthcare?
How do I find the Indian family, so I send them a little bit of money once my brother is re-born?

I do not have an answer to your question but your story is absolutely beautiful thank you so much for sharing <3… I believe the universe will find a way if its meant to be for you to help your re- born brother.
Your story reminds me of the saying: “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.”
If one follows your story, you never die, only take on a new form (go into a new body). So, maybe your brother feels stronger this time around?
😉
Hey James. Thanks for posting this story. I actually believe in the reincarnation theory, and your dreams pretty much confirm it. I’m sorry that your brother took his life and I’m sure that you were close to him.
My suspicions about suicide was that taking your life prevents you from experiencing what you were supposed to experience in your current life, thus you will be forced to come back and overcome those challenges. I didn’t believe that a human could be reborn as an animal, but it’s up to God I guess.
I hope one day you will find your brother. Your dreams sound more like spiritual experiences to me. Are you into meditation or other spiritual practices? I think your brother chose to be born into a hindu family, because his soul is seeking liberation from the cycle of birth and death, and coming from a hindu background myself, this is the ultimate goal of hindus. Liberation from birth and death.
!!!!!!!!!! I believe in reincarnation too! My journalism teacher (who claims to be a psychic) told me that if we commit suicide, we have to “start” all over again since we haven’t learned our lesson. Call me and him crazy. Thank you so much for your story (although it was rather scary for some reason).
If all spirits occupy space, and the birth rate is climbing, where are all the new spirits coming from? Are they animal spirits? What if the world is bombed to extinction? What happens to all the souls? Isn’t it sort of cheating that he couldn’t kill himself but was allowed to give you the opportunity to kill him? Was being turned into a jellyfish punishment for suicide? And if so, shouldn’t he have to accept his punishment? What if the jellyfish wasn’t your brother and you just massacred an innocent sea creature? Some people think animals don’t have souls and that’s why its ok to eat them but now that you’ve seen your brother in jelly fish form, how do you feel about eating meat? You could be eating your dead grandparents. If you believe the soul goes into the baby at conception, do you believe abortion is wrong?
This is a whole other can of worms. Anyway, I’m glad you Got to do something for yr bro. Closure is nice. I think you should leave the Indian couple alone. You might freak them out if you tell them they’re pregnant with your brother who used to be a jellyfish
@one_day: You raise some really important philosophical questions here and I’ll try to answer some of them. In hinduism, we are taught that souls inhabit animal forms before becoming human beings. So that could explain why there are so many more human beings now than say 1000 years ago. Ever notice how some people act more like animals than humans? It’s probably because they were animals in their previous birth.
When a person dies, maybe their souls go to some astral world for a while, until it’s time to be reborn? As for eating animals, well I’m not a vegetarian. I eat fish and chicken, because it’s good protein. It’s unlikely that you’re eating an animal that was your dead grandparents, but anything is possible?
As for the soul choosing his/her parents. In hindu mysticism, we learn that our souls do indeed choose the parents who would best be suited to take care of us. But they why do so many abortions occur? This is a difficult subject to rationalize.
@dave_n – if souls inhabit animal forms before human forms, doesn’t that mean that by eating animals, you could potentially be eating the soul of your future grandchild? Isn’t that the basis of vegetarianism?
I think the concept of children choosing their parents is terrible. If a child gets lumped with awful parents, then the blame falls back on the child for ‘choosing’ them. That’s just plain wrong.
Anyway, I’m not hindu, and I can’t be sure this jellyfish was the brother trapped in jelly form. So I can’t help being really disturbed that someone just butchered a perfectly innocent sea creature because they thought it was his brother incarnate.
How amazing! Thank you James. Human life is rarer than animal life. Consciousness becomes human and remains human only whilst linked to a human form. So, it is the form that determines the potential expression of that consciousness. Upon death, it lives on in an energy body. The physical human form is dropped. The energy body maintains the human appearance and form it had. Re-embodiment in a physical form is re-incarceration. Re-incarnation into human form is one possibility. Yet, re-incarnation into human form is not easily achieved if the life just lived has left the soul in a state worse than when it had been conceived. The different species of life are like different punishments or sentences meted out.
Seeing you have a psychic as well as a karmic bond with your brother, you may derive clues from your future dreams. Alternatively, your karmic connection may propel you together.
Other than that, the rest is up to Fate.
I was thinking about your question why he would choose Indian parents. It might be that he perceives the possibility of understanding the evolution of soul given his last soul experience. In that sense, Indian parents would enable him to be born into a spiritual tradition that may directly address that desire of his.
You may recognise your brother from his facial likeness when reborn as well. He may be taller or shorter, obviously he’ll be darker, but the facial profile will resemble his previous likeness.
James, I believe that if your brother wants you to find him and his new family, he will send you clues in your dreams as to where you will find him. You may need to learn hindi. If by some miracle, you were able to find him, he would more than likely have no recollection of you, unless if he were hypnotized? This would be an incredible story if you were to find him. It would pretty much prove that reincarnation is actually true.
Interesting how the opening poster has not replied. I wonder if this story was made up?
😀 Dave, maybe he’ll still reply. His account sounds plausible. He does appear to have lucid dreams, and contact with his brother is very credible. There is a kind of dream that is an announcement visitation to the mother- to- be in her dream. This appears to be a dream visitation to his brother. I hope he does reply.
