Let me die today
I’ll tell you why I should
And all of the reasons why
It will do a world of good
Let me just close my eyes
And embrace the night to breast
Save your love and light for those
Whose strength can pass the test
Let me go and slip away
And flee from broken shell
Scattered, crazy dearest
Who in life finds only hell
Let me never wake again
And weary eyes may close
Peace will then be known to all
And no more beseeching prose
Let me no longer burden
Family, lover and friend
Those whose hearts touched mine so brightly
Should not witness this again.
Let me go now, please
I am not worthy of this place
In my head be only sadness
And only shadows in my face
Let me die today
I’ve told you why I should
Let me not linger any longer
It will do the world some good.

World may lose a muse,
You really ought not go.
We realize that things suck,
Embrace the ebb and flow.
But all I have are bitter words
And perhaps endless tears
I cannot withstand the thought
That this will be my years
Muse or not, I don’t know
But I thank you for thinking so.
