Has anyone else ever taken an Ambien? One pill knocks me out within 15 minutes. That’s not the interesting part. The interesting part is that it wipes out all memory for those few minutes leading up to unconsciousness.
I know it would take at least 1000 pills to kill me, so that’s not what I’m posting about. But something about those few minutes of blackout is interesting. People who have seen me on ambien say i just lie down and I’m out cold, no amout of noise or shaking can get through.
What if, for example, I were to take a dozen pills and then go swimming in the ocean? I would black out and slip underwater, no kicking, no screaming. Most importantly: no second thoughts.
I can even do it right in front of everyone on a crowded weekend (the more people, the better chance of being lost in the noisy, chaotic crowd). I’ll wear a snorkel mask to play the part. Anyone who notices me will just think I’m swimming peacefully, further and further out. Diving and collecting seashells. Putting them in plastic bags that are tied to my arms (a few handfuls of sand might happen to get in there, too). I bet no one will notice when I sink from the weight. The water is so murky they won’t find me for a while.
For the first time in months I’m excited. Knowing the effect Ambien has on me I’m sure this will work. Just thought I’d throw it out there for anyone to comment on. Have I forgotten anything?

Hm. I can see where you’re going with this, but I don’t think ambien would be a good thing to use in the way you’re describing. I’m the kind of idiot who’s tried to stay awake after taking ambien and it’s not a pleasant experience, but it is totally possible. If you’re not laying down by the time the drug hits your nervous system, you’ll wish to god you weren’t awake, but you will be awake. lol At least that’s how I’ve felt the handful of times I’ve done it.
Really? Thanks for that info. I’m an idiot too, so I think I’ll try a test run to see how hellish it is. Probably go for a walk in the woods or something.
I think I’ve experienced something like what you’re talking about when I took about 25 regular sleeping pills once (diphenhydramine hcl). It made my heart race and my skin crawl like I was being eaten alive. That’s when I realized suicide by sleeping pills is not like you see in the movies.
Ambien has me curious because it seems to switch me off like a light. But I’ve always been lying down at the time. Again, thanks for the info. I’ll have to do some tests. With alcohol, without, with diphenhydramine, with gabapentin, maybe if I’m lucky I’ll stumble on a lethal cocktail and be done with it
I wouldn’t go for a walk – one of the first things to go for me, when I’ve done it, is my equilibrium. I mean, it’s not so much that walking is difficult, but it can be very nauseating. Also, there was a lot of hype going around that when schizophrenics take ambien, it “cures” their schizophrenia temporarily – it always seemed to me that the reverse is also true for non-schizophrenics.
