I know what you’re saying about holding down a job. Nearly every job I’ve worked at I wasn’t good enough for the boss. In most jobs, I either was fired for being too slow or quit before getting fired. I’m 53 and had over 30 jobs including being self-employed. All my jobs have been low-paying. Well, maybe some short 1 day or other short-term jobs have may have averaged a good hourly rate, but no job I’ve had over a month or so has paid over $10 per hour in my lifetime. Wait till you get older and have a heart attack like me. You’ll be slower and less “economically viable” than ever before. And yes, I attended college, but was too slow at that, and had trouble meeting deadlines. After seeing your post, I wonder if there aren’t more of us marginal workers who can’t make the grade even when they try. Maybe we should form a union!
