I live fairly close to a major city, and have been entertaining the idea of using a bridge there. The drop to the water is 228 feet. I have actually read of people jumping off of the Golden Gate Bridge and surviving…lol.
I’ve read that you have to fall at least 250 feet into water to die from it. Personally, I’ve been eyeing a tall parking structure (11 stories) which could theoretically be high enough as long as I land on my head on the concrete. Not sure I have the stomach for that, though I think if I had a strong sedative and just balanced myself on the edge until I fell asleep and let gravity take over, it might be doable. I’d still prefer something like ******** or amitriptyline cocktail, but the difficulty of obtaining the appropriate ingredients is daunting.
Yeah, I walked the city late at night looking for buildings I might be able to access the roofs to. I was worried about landing on someone or not dying straight away even if it was really high up because I’m paranoid.
Jumping off a bridge into water, presuming that it’s high enough, would be the same experience as jumping off of a tall building into concrete I think. I wonder why people favor bridges over buildings. Or do they not?
I’m you’re of heights that’s a no. The only way around that would be to stand at the foot of the Eiffel Tower and get someone to run to the top and throw pennies down in the hope that a lucky coin splits you in half causing instant death.
I think about it all the time. Don’t have access to it though unless I am at the hospital and obviously anything suicidal is hard to pull off in the hospital. I fell off a stepladder once just a 3 feet fall and landed right on my back was knocked out instantly. Did not hurt at all until I woke up. That would be a great way to die but obviously its going to be a problem if you just jumped 10 stories and are unlucky enough to wake up. That’s the most fearsome part.
Yes, surviving the fall would be the worst thing — there would be so much physical damage, possibly/probably neurological damage. It would just make everything that much worse and then you wouldn’t be physically capable of even taking a second stab at it. Maybe that’s why people seem to prefer bridges — because even if you survive the fall, you can then drown.
If my memory serves me correctly, I recall once reading an article about a woman who jumped off a bridge and survived. After completing the subsequent rehab, the day she was released she went back to the same bridge and jumped again. This time she succeeded.
jumping is in my top 3. I always think of the end scene from crank when Jason statham falls from the building, time slowing down and he makes a phone call lol. awesome.
Well, I guess I could jump from a building, I’m just worried about not being able to access the roof and then someone…arresting me or something because I’m trying to get up there.
I plan on heading to that bridge in less than a week. If the impact doesn’t kill then drowning would. I have read of one incident where someone survived both, but was prey for a great white shark that happened into the bay. Jumping from the roof of a building could harm others.

afraid of heights*
well if you jump into water, some one doesnt have to scrub you off the pavement.

Only way I could “jump” is if something rendered me unconscious and gravity did the rest…
Ironically I am the same way, but at the same time drawn to them.
