If I had those three items determined, I think I’d fly into a massive spike of anxiety due to the reality of it all. I keep it nebulous for that very reason – it has a fringe benefit of keeping me more open to alternatives, as well, knowing that I have an ultimate fallback position, should things spiral too far out of control.
@Keief: I understand why living requires courage (though no more, I believe, than arranging one’s own death). But why is living necessarily a “good” so that aware adults who reason they no longer want to live should be discouraged from having their free thoughts, or should be told they require courage to “toss away” their plans not to live?
I have a plan, and date (when my pet rats pass away, otherwise no one else I know will take care of them and I can’t leave them). I also have materials. I figure a couple hundred Tylenol will do it. My pet rats are almost three but they are still healthy cause I feed them organic foods. When they do someday pass of natural causes, I will then have the courage to end myself.
I guess I get to decide then…. I mean no ones stopping me. There’s a quote I like because it’s really relatable “The only reason I havemt killed myself yet is to not cause hurt or pain to everyone, but everyone is hurting me.”
Cowardly Lion: Courage! What makes a king out of a slave? Courage! What makes the flag on the mast to wave? Courage! What makes the elephant charge his tusk in the misty mist, or the dusky dusk? What makes the muskrat guard his musk? Courage! What makes the sphinx the seventh wonder? Courage! What makes the dawn come up like thunder? Courage! What makes the Hottentot so hot? What puts the “ape” in apricot? What have they got that I ain’t got?
Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tin Woodsman: Courage!
Cowardly Lion: You can say that again! Huh?
@Deadjoy: You feed your pet rats organic food? That thought made me happier than just about any I’ve come across today–THANK YOU!! I hope you and they have many fun moments ahead of you. Is it too much for me to ask their names and for a small description of each? I had a roommate who had a huge pet rat. Smart animals! and so much fun. (A bit too much so at night.)
Anyhow, Joy, thanks for the happy images–I’ll keep them with me for the rest of the day.

Yup, all you need is the courage… to toss those things away and keep on living 🙂

@Courage: I agree with you. A plan, a date, no courage. Here’s hoping you find what you need to be content.
