No one is worthy of feeling depressed. Everyone is too good for depression.
Unfortunately, we don’t decide how our brain balances the production or under production of certain chemicals. Don’t hit yourself on the head because your life is okay and you read people with troubled pasts around you that are having as hard as a time as you feel you have.
Your feelings are your own and cannot be compared. What you are feeling is legitimate no matter the circumstances and it deserves as much attention and help than the feelings of others.
Do not let this keep you from seeking the help you need. No one will judge you or compare you. You deserve to feel better as much as anyone else.
i feel the same way, which is a good thing! some people like to hear of others misery, makes them feel better about themselves, better to feel the way you do and have a heart! 🙂 depression is depression if you have it, it takes everything you got to fight it no matter why your depessed, i think when one is depressed it is a state of mind that feels the same to anyone. i have it made i have everything a person could want, but you could hand me a gold bar and i’d still be depressed 🙂
You need to accept that your pain is real, no matter what brought you at this point.
Pain is pain, and even if yours doesn’t seem legit to you, it’s still there and you need to find out why.
Stop comparing. There is no requirement for what type of circumstance you must find yourself in before being allowed to feel depressed or suicidal. Besides, I think you’re blowing it way out of proportion, there are not that many people here with really solid concrete reasons for feeling this way. Maybe a small handful actually have serious illnesses or other things really wrong. Most on this website are unhappy about all the typical things.
If you’re this unhappy but you feel like you shouldn’t be, either there’s something missing in your life that you haven’t even identified yet, something you wish you had that makes you feel this bad, but if you think about that for a while and still can’t find any answer – it’s entirely possible you just have the chemical type of depression that needs no real reason to exist. Situational depression is caused by actual circumstances in life, problems that have potential solutions, clinical depression is a medical problem, if you believe there is enough scientific evidence out there to even prove that these types of “chemical imbalances” or mental disorders exist.

hard to “stop comparing” when everyone else still does, due to comparison being one of the fundamental functions of human perception…
