you need a set of fundamental guiding precepts, and a method of most efficiently discerning what is the right thing to do, and commit yourself to honesty (at least within yourself) and pursuit of what is right and just. That way, you should be able to move through any treacherous environment or series of obstacles, knowing that you are giving your best to do what you must, and/or what you think is right.
Some people will not like you. You will sometimes, perhaps often, be alone. It’s likely that people you care about, will die, during your lifetime. Things will sometimes get worse. People will see your scars. You will sometimes be afraid. This is just how life works.
But you don’t have to eliminate fear… you only need to learn how to face it, navigate it, and operate to the best of your capabilities, despite it… sometimes even because of it. Don’t let fear cripple you, even if you can’t make it disappear. This is the essence of courage; it is not to lack fear, but to do or enact what you must, despite it.

@clevername: that was so…eloquent. We all need to learn to write like you.
I know, that was such an insightful comment.
