Well they put me on Seroquel. My jerk for a psychiatrist…..or should I say nurse practitioner says she’s seen a lot of good results from people on that medicine.
Paxil was the worst for me. Seroquel didn’t help me, but I was only on a small dose for sleep so I’m not sure if a bigger dose may have helped any of the multitude of mental issues that I suffer from. What is the Seroquel being prescribed for if I may ask?
They put me on Seroguel for depression. Yet again the doc got freaked out and wanted to put make me in-patient again because of how “high risk” I am. Uh, no. Not going back into the hospital.
Never been on Paxil. Right now I’m not feeling any effects from the Seroquel. I was told I’d be sleepy and have an increased appetite, but since I’m always tired I don’t feel anything, and I’m rarely hungry. I might have a high tolerance to meds (Never did drugs in my life either) so maybe I need to take like….the whole bottle to feel anything.
Anti depressants take at least 4 weeks or more for the effect to become apparent. Not only that, but they normally start with a very low dose and then raise the dose every week or so to try to avoid side effects and see how your body tolerates it. How long have you been on it?
Dude you’re unhappy you got seroquel? It’s the best! As a chronic insomniac I’ve found it (<50mg) to be guaranteed restful sleep each night, but they won't prescribe me it. It doesn't mean you're a psycho just because it's an anti-psychotic. Antidepressants are worse imo, their side effects and withdrawals are crazy.
Tormentedsoul if you still have them, try them out. Under 50 mg’s is supposed to be ideal for use as a sleep aid. Try 25, then 50 and see what happens.
Well, my doc had given me a starter pack with just a few tablets. I think the tablets might have expired by now though. I could ask my doc for a script but they are always so cautious because of my suicidal thoughts so I don’t know if I will get it.
Wow, I wonder why everyone seems to feel the sleepy effect from seroquel but never me? I have taken 25mg, 50mg, even more although I know that less is more with this one when it comes to helping insomnia. It never helped me sleep at all.
I take ativan now to sleep. Only benzos work for me and even then, their action is so short lived that I often wake up several times during the night. Nightmares and worry play a part in that, but I just wish that I could get a decent sleeping pill here in Canada. Does anyone know of any?
I find that seroquel and that sort of medication they don’t seem to mind giving to us “high risk” patients. I suppose that they aren’t that addictive and not really likely to cause serious harm either. It’s more the abusable meds that I have difficulty getting. Also, expired pills don’t really seem to be any less effective in my experiences with them. I have used several meds that had expired, but they still had the same desired effect.
That’s what my doc had told me. That it is not addictive and has no side effects. I thought he was exaggerating (no side effects at all???) and didn’t even try, but right now I am so messed up with insomnia etc. that I could give it a go after all.
She said it would take a week to work, and I just started yesterday. It really didn’t help me sleep like she said it would, but that’s a different story.

They had put me on Seroquel too some time ago, but I didn’t take it… Let me know if it is really good. Quite honestly nothing seems to works with me.

Ah, Seroquel. Didn’t do me a bit of good for depression, but, boy, did it cure my insomnia!
So it does work for insomnia? That’s why my doc wanted me to take it, but as I said I didn’t take it. Maybe I should rethink my decision.
