Today was my first day of school. I was really worried about how everything would turn out. It’s not the worst school in the world, but there are some really messy situations you can find yourself in if you aren’t careful. I’m usually pretty safe, but there are kids who are in local gangs, and it doesn’t take much to piss them off. One kid was beaten up for wearing a wristband that was a rival gang color, and he wasn’t even in a gang! I’m happy there’s a uniform code this year.
Anyhow, things were better than I thought they would be for the most part. Towards the end, though, something happened that I really didn’t expect. In my life I find that things go wrong when I least expect it, usually when I’m having a decent day.
This kid was blocking the hallway, and you only have 4 minuets to get from one class to another. Annoyed, I asked the kid to move out of the way. I didn’t mean for it to sound harsh, but my tone was slightly demanding. He turned around and approached me. “What?” he asked in a sudden change of mood. “Look kid, there’s only 4 minuets before the late bell rings. You can screw around here if you like, but try to consider others while you’re doing it!” I said. This angered him, it seemed so sudden. He pushed me, “I ain’t a kid, you fucking *****! I’m not going to have you talking to me like you own me. You aren’t my fucking mother, so stop acting like one!” I smiled, and that’s all it took for him to raise his hand at me. He slapped me before saying, “You bitches need to learn your place in life!” He then threw me on the floor and began punching and kicking me. This went on for awhile before a someone got security. It took a few of them to get him off of me. I tried moving but I was in so much pain. The distinct taste of blood in my mouth. I managed to get up. Lightheaded, I wobbled a bit before one of the guards noticed me. “Hey, how are you feeling?” he said as he put his hand on my shoulder. That was the last thing I remember before everything went black.
I woke up in the nurses office. Sore as hell, I tried sitting up in the bed I was in. The nurse noticed and rushed over. “You took one hell of a beating. I’m shocked you’re even able to get up. Try to lay down, no one is expecting you to do anything right now.” she said in a concerned tone. I laid back down, putting my hands over my face. I couldn’t believe what had happened to me. This was only the first day of school, and I get my ass kicked in.
Eventually, my Grandmother came for me, and after checking if I was alright to walk, the nurse gave the okay for me to go home.
(Ahem) So I know I just typed all this out like a short story. But it’s the only way I think anyone can make sense of what the hell happened during my *first* day of school. I’m still sore now, and I have no idea if I’ll be going back tomorrow. I mean, it’s not that bad, but I don’t know if I want to head back to school so soon.

Did that guy really punch and kick you around like that? Wow. I’ve noticed though, how easy it is to piss people off. You say one thing the wrong way and they jump on you.
If this is a true story, you need to take revenge on that guy somehow. Let him know you’re not somebody to mess with. Maybe make friends with some other gang members and then they can beat him up for you.
Why wouldn’t it be true? I’m honest about who I am and what I go through, unlike some people on this forum. I guess what you mentioned is something I could do. I mean, I don’t want to get shot to death. I’d like for my death to be a bit more pleasant than that.
Well, it’s either that or try to lay low and avoid these kinds of people… but I never like the thought of anyone getting away with wrongdoing.
Are you in senior year?
Yeah. I was supposed to graduate last year, but I missed too many days. So I’m making it all up this year.
From middle school until I transferred to a county high, school was like that. Gang activity was, and still is so prominent in my city, and of course the public schools within. Shit like that happened every day, from one on one, to mobs of people going at each other. I understand the atmosphere, and how uncomfortable that must be for you. And since you aren’t affiliated with any gangs (i’m guessing), that has to be even worse. I don’t really have any advice for you, except stand your ground. I’ve been in my fair share of beat downs and i’ve both kicked the ass and gotten my ass kicked in fights. My only advice is carry a knife on you, easily concealed, and when you get into a altercation again, and you feel they have the advantage, whip that fucker out. Believe me, I went to schools like that for four, almost five years. Until you give them something to remember, they won’t stop. And besides, they didn’t call me “Stabby” Mike for nothing. 😉
Nope. I’d die before I’d join any gangs. I did stand my ground. I don’t like fighting, so I didn’t do anything to hurt him. I simply covered my head, and waited for him to stop. I didn’t think I’d pass out, though. That rarely happens. As long as I stay where others can see me, and keep my distance from him in the future, I should be fine. Anyway, I heard that he was arrested. They have a police officer on campus, and a zero tolerance policy against fighting. Another reason I didn’t fight back. It’s easy to appear the bad guy when you’re actually the victim in those situations.
True. I’m glad he was arrested then. At least the school wouldn’t let him get away with it.
Well, that’s good, they’re nothing, but life destroyers anyway. Good, standing your ground is pretty much all you can do in those situations.
I used to carry a knife everywhere, until one day some “authority figures” went through my belongings and confiscated it. They said I was breaking rules by possessing a weapon, and that was probably not a good idea to have that in case the other party snatched it away and used it on me instead. I wasn’t planning on letting that happen. Whatever. That was a great high quality knife, and I never got around to buying another since.
They never returned it to you?
No, since it was a “weapon”. I explained it was only for self-defense, but I guess that didn’t matter.
It still belonged to you. Wouldn’t keeping it be considered stealing? I hate crap like that.
Apparently they thought I was dangerous. Oh well.
I’ve carried a knife with me since I was nine. My favorite one taken from me when I was arrested, but I have a new favorite now.
What a shame.
Well that must have sucked getting hit by that stupid kid I hope your ok at least you have no broken bones n it’s very good that kid got arrested kids like that with a attitude damn back a couple of years when I was in high it was like that security guards on lunch n there were a lot of gang related fights maybe every so often but I’m glad I’m not in school anymore at it was hell. Well at least your ok now and it would be good to just stay home for a couple of days
Yep. I’m home today. I’m sure no one would mind. There are a ton of gang related fights at my school, too. It’s stupid. Wait until after school or something! x)
