So I’ve watched the movie 7 Pounds a few times. If you haven’t seen it, you should. If you like Will Smith that is. I’ve always wanted to make an impact on humanity. Or at least leave something of a mark, even if it’s not something people will remember a 100 years from now. If I could simply give someone else life through my death, I could end on that note. So I’ve researched the Box Jellyfish. It’s the deadliest Jellyfish, if not the deadliest creature in the sea. It’s venom is considered among the most deadly. So as the movie goes, Will Smith commits suicide by Box Jellyfish in a tub full of ice to preserve his organs. As he wanted to leave the woman he loved his heart as she was on the waiting list for a new heart. Well I researched that possibility, and I’m not sure if they would take your organs after the toxins have attacked your heart, nervous system and so forth. Does anyone know if something like 7Pounds could be done, and your body still be used for donors?
If not, I’ll keep investigating. Because I am a donor. After all once I’m dead, what good are they to me. Way I figure it is, it will be like eating a salad yet drinking coke. They kind of cancel each other out in a sense. So if I can give someone life, after taking my own it’s a win win 😀

What I suggest is, you live the happiest, healthiest, most stress free life you can so that your organs are some of the healthiest organs the hospital has ever seen. But until then, instead of giving life to save a life, why not use your life to save a life? Why not join the volunteer rescue squad? Volunteer at homeless shelters or soup kitchens? Become a fireman or other emergency respondent. Your death may only save a few lives at MOST. Image how many lives applying your life could save…. Quite a lot more
I hear what you’re saying. And I have volunteered from time to time. Be it helping with drives or handing out coats and blankets to the homeless etc. Problem is I have the hardest time trying to help others. I’ve signed up for the meals on wheels program, to deliver food to people in need. No on ever called back. I have an impeccable driving record. And no criminal record. I’ve signed up to help walk down syndrome children on horses, and no one calls me back. I love to help others, but it’s futile. I never get a return call or email and I’ve come to the point where I quit trying. And I have thought about becoming a fireman, it’s always been a dream of mine to help others. Nope, instead I will try to save life through my passing. Thanks for your feedback.
I intend to do a similar thing eventually. I figure I can at least help a few people out. I read that if you do it right you can save 8 people with your organs. The key from what I read is to make sure you die of brain death so your organs can still be used. Also you have to get your organs out of your body fast, so either have a witness or someone that can be alerted to the situation afterwards so your organs don’t go bad.
If you don’t decide to take your life, why not try getting into healthcare? Become a nurse or if you think you’re up to it a doctor. I wish I could have went that route but due to unfortunately having a mental illness I am very anti social and unable to do the healthcare thing. Helping others might help you deal with whatever is depressing you, if you are depressed. Anyway I wish you the best.
So this is on TV tonight

I hear how hopeless you sound, and cannot imagine how lonely that despair makes you feel. Not knowing where you live makes it difficult to respond, but I do know that openings for Meals on Wheels drivers are few and far between because they only require one person and that often is an older, retired person who does it to stave off being lonely. Similarly, working with disabled kids is a more specialized setting and the openings for volunteers are few. I’ve worked with kids with CP; often volunteer openings are filled with young people who are investigating careers in health care or education.
With your fabulous driving record you could apply for to your local CAP Agency (Community Action Program) to become one of their volunteer drivers that assist elderly and disabled people to get to medical appointments, shopping, etc. I know for a FACT such volunteers are in high demand bc of the severe cuts to safety net programs.
Agencies like Easter Seals and Lutheran Social Services used to provide this assistance to the homebound but no longer do so bc the government won’t reimburse them. If you are serious about volunteering, this lead is a hot one. CAP Agencies exist in every state in the US and they ALL have volunteer driver programs hurting for volunteers. You could also assist in whatever programs are set up to assist homebound and elderly people to get to the polls to vote. That would require you call your town hall to inquire. But I’d start with CAP first.
Another entity that never has enough volunteers – animal shelters. Whether it is your local humane society or SPCA, there are plenty of opportunities with an insufficient number of people filling them: dog walkers, people who feed, clean kennels or clean kitty cages, etc. The opportunities are legion but the volunteers, unfortunately, are not.
I know… depression is already helping you compile a long list of reasons why you CANNOT do any of these things. If you’ve lived the illness of depression long enough, you are smart enough to recognize the defeatist attitude and tell yourself to ignore it. Each time you are tempted to say: “I can’t” without trying you’ll have to engage your own internal overdrive that says: “sure I can” because you won’t allow yourself to be defeated without trying. Right?
I’m not going to pretend it is easy. But — getting out and socializing with others will help. Human beings are social creatures, not engineered to be solitary. The more isolated you are, the deeper the hopelessness becomes.
You are WORTH the effort it takes to get out and get connected with other people. I hope you’ll be as generous with yourself as you are with others.
