“There are so many ways to be brave in this world. Sometimes bravery involves laying down your life for something bigger than yourself, or for someone else. Sometimes it involves giving up everything you have ever known, or everyone you have ever loved, for the sake of something greater.
But sometimes it doesn’t.
Sometimes it is nothing more than gritting your teeth through pain, and the work of every day, the slow walk toward a better life.”
Veronica Roth, Insurgent #3
This passage resonates so deeply in me.

I get that class post
It’s nice to know other people get it
Here is the but.
Your ugly or get people tell you are You got body issues And just bullied to all most death and family stuff so how dose anybody become strong like to just say I am who I am and your being lame
to the Bees
Not you being lame mean the bullies
bullets go for the weak
meant bullies
I used to get bullied. Even by my so called friends. I was fat and I never felt pretty. It’s hard. Being brave. But just by getting up and still moving forward despite the bullying and name calling you are being brave. Bravery can be so many different things. It can be standing up to someone who is wrong, or it can be knowing that they aren’t worth it and just walking away. Bravery can be leaving someone you love so that they can be happy even if you aren’t, or it can be fighting for them no matter what. Bravery isn’t defined by any specific act or feeling but by what make us feel like we are doing the right thing. And we may not feel brave at the time that we are being brave, we may realize later on how brave we were in the past. Just keep going and you will see it eventually.
Love the quote. I’m 70 and spent most of my life trudging forward. BTW, retirement is awesome, even without much money. I also have a novel coming out Feb. 14 on Amazon.com, Karma’s Little Helper. It is about a suicidal girl, but I kept it as upbeat as I could so that those who don’t understand suicide might read it and gain a grain of understanding.
I have discovered that unless someone has crossed that line in life, they just don’t ‘get it.’
You are my idol. I doubt I will reach seventy, but your chutzpah makes me happy.
Either crossed it or knows someone who has.
That’s some people who are here go thought
Every day is another helping of the shit buffet.
That quote is so true, but it’s also just a matter of perspective. You could say the exact opposite of it and it would also seem like it’s true. I’m saying this because that sounds exactly like what i used to think for a good half of my life and then i started thinking the exact opposite, until i finally chose to believe that it’s only a matter of choice.
If you want to think that your suffering is for a greater good or a step into a better life, it’s your choice. If you want to think that it’s just meaningless it’s your choice. In the end you will never know which one of those it was until you get there, and 2 people doing exactly the same could reach a different outcome… so yup, sorry for my mindless rambling.
Mf it’s not mindless I love seeing other peoples take on something I like, it opens up new perspectives on the world. And you are right, I think that is what this passage is saying, perspective is everything. Perspective is what moves the world. It is what makes everything function on a daily basis. How we view things, our opinions on things, if we were not intelligent (so we are told) beings all with unique perspectives we wouldn’t write, or create art, or do anything meaningful.
