Last year, i tried to commit suicide. After I’ve gone out of the hospital, I didn’t have a therapy because i refused to. And now, my mom is still pushing me to do so because my temper got worse after what had happened.
I don’t know much about your situation. How serious was your suicide attempt? If you had to go to the hospital, it seems like it must have been kind of serious. Were you trying to get attention? If you were, then it sounds like you did at least get your Mom’s attention. And how do you feel about therapy? Do you have a bad temper? Do you think you’d like someone to talk to? If so, maybe you could try going to a therapist and seeing if it helps. And if you don’t like the first therapist you see, try seeing a different one. It doesn’t hurt to try. Good luck to you.
I’ve been in therapy twice now in my life. Both started right after suicide attempts. The first lasted for about 15 months. It was once a week at first, then every two weeks, then three, then once a month. The last few months were just done out of habit. It helped me a little. But the main factor was that I still had the most important thing in my life then, so I was OK.
This second time it’s been much different. I have lost the most important thing in my life and I’m never getting it back. First session was January 26 and have had 22 sessions in the following 11(almost 12) weeks. Even though my therapist is very good and tries his hardest, it’s not much help at this point.
My own experiences notwithstanding, I would recommend therapy to anyone afflicted with major depression or other mental disorders and/or conditions. It might be able to help you.
