Hi fellow members,
I’ve been depressed for a couple of years now and never taken any action. Because I always thought I’ll handle it and it will pass over.
Last weekend I had a total breakdown and did things I totally regret. I have decided to seek help locally, I have been given numbers of a couple of counselors. At the moment I’m abroad for work purposes and will be for the next two and a half months. My question is should I find help here and call the counselors or wait till I’m back home and then get myself sorted out?
Thanks,

Do it now.
Thanks for the response. Why do you think I should do it now?
If you are in the EU it is *free*. Never turn down free professional help, IMO. Depending upon the flavor of meltdown you had it might be a good idea to talk to a pro while the memories are fresh. If you are ultra busy I could see putting it off. If you are a stranger in strange land and spending too much time alone then why the hell not do it?
I suggest you wait until you get back home if you plan on receiving treatment/help long-term. That way, if you connect with a great counselor, you can build that relation long-term.and don’t have to break.at some point.
I’ve known for a long time that I need some new help and I haven’t been seeking it, so I’d be a hypocrite to tell you to, but my advice would be to call the counsellors and find help while you’re there as well. You know from experience that depression can drag itself out. The sooner you find help, the better. If it doesn’t help then you won’t have lost anything when you return home (and you’ll be able to see the counsellors soon), but there’s the chance that you’ll go home already feeling somewhat better.
