I hate feeling frustrated with this job too. I don’t have any options to get a full time job. But I’m supposed to be an equal with someone here, same position, same level, both leadership positions for others. But he’s taken over, and it’s like I suddenly have another boss, one that disapproves of everything I do, calls all the shots, and I have no freedom anymore. I was liking this so much because of the creative freedom the real boss gave me, and that my ideas were listened to and even liked. Now I’m back to this “no, no, no, I don’t like that, do this, this, this, and that, and redo everything you did before at the last minute” by someone who’s really not the boss. Why do people never listen to me!?!?! Why is everyone else on earth always above me!!?!?

Hi, disgusting.
When I used to manage staff, some of the team members were supervisors who didn’t get along with each other. My first strategy was to give them some time offline (away from the staff they supervised) to work it out by themselves. Sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn’t. When it didn’t, that’s when I actively stepped in and mediated. I made it clear that, while I understood that disagreements were inevitable, their roles were to work with each other. As the boss, I gave ground rules as to what their specific responsibilities were. I also let them know that their jobs were to lead the operation; not hinder it by in-fighting.
If you can’t work it out with the other person, then perhaps your manager can help. You were probably chosen for a leadership position because your boss was confident in your abilities and performance. It might be in your manager’s best interest to end the conflict so everyone can perform the jobs that they’ve been assigned.
