“I think that man was half-right. He is better off out of the game – but the game may not be better off without him. A man should not exist for himself alone. Life made an investment in him, and that investment was not paid off.”

Wow
Good find.
Or did you write that?? Either way, I love it
It’s a quote from Piers Anthony, the author of On a Pale Horse.
That’s a good thought and I could almost believe it, if I could believe that Life is not a totally corrupt dickweed. If a corrupt organization makes an investment in you, it is your obligation to make that investment fail even at your own expense.
I’m sorry for the negativity. It really is a good thought for most people.
No problem man, everyone has their opinion. This quote just really resonated with me like a couple years ago and I decided I wanted to share it recently. It really is up for interpretation for everyone.
I agree with some of it. Other parts I disagree with. I believe that the game of life is not better off without people. Life needs people. Life is about people and we all are important. I do believe that life made an investment in us > but I don’t believe that means necessarily that we are in debt to anybody or to life itself just because we are alive. but in a certain sense I do believe that we owe it to life to do the best with what we have and to be thankful. I also believe we owe it to life to be a good person and try to be a positive person in the world. That is just how I see it.
Its a good quote you have there.
I interpreted “life” in the quote more as the people who are in our lives. Like as in they’ve invested their time and resources to us and whatnot.
With that interpretation (life = the people who believe in us) it really is an inspiring thought. My first interpretation is that life = nature. Or for lack of a better word, life = god. I don’t think nature (or “god”) are nice, so I resent being their investment. But the few people who have believed in me & helped along the way.. they were good people. I do feel obligated to try for their sake. Thanks for this great interpretation.
