I can’t wait to get in to the mountains. As much as I hate being alone and having no one, when I am in the mountains I am at peace. Just mother nature and I. When I go it is not a camping trip. I wouldn’t consider it a survival trip either but in a way it is a survival trip. I don’t take a tent or sleeping bag. I don’t take a gun. I take something to start a fire, a knife and a little fishing line. The rest I use mother nature to provide. I build a shelter, eat bugs and berries and if I am lucky catch a fish or snake. I am only out there for a couple days because of the evil thing called a job. So in that way I don’t consider it a survival trip. I do however call it a survival trip because I get away from the city and people. Like I said earlier it is weird that I hate being alone but in the mountains I cherish it. Sure it would be nice to snuggle with someone by the campfire but at the same time there is nothing like sitting by the fire, listening to the crackle and pop, looking up into the stars and being able to find something to keep going. I guess that is why I am still here. My trips to the mountains in a way have saved me.
So many people say I am crazy for doing it and they also say I am crazy for leaving my phone home. I go to find something in me. Not to communicate with others. It is my time. And when it comes to my time I will be selfish. People are always asking what if I get lost or seriously hurt. I don’t care about that. If I was to die out there I would be so happy. I would be where I wanted to be.

That sounds wonderful. I’m not sure if I could be so hardcore as to manage the whole camping outdoors thing myself (I would prefer to stay in a small cabin at a campground), but I would certainly enjoy being alone in nature. I bet it would do wonders for my mental and physical health if I could escape to some mountains for a few days.
Thanks for the inspiration.
You are welcome. There is nothing else that could even come close for me. I try to do it as much as I can. It is so relaxing. Then there is the best soundtrack ever, the sounds of nature. It puts all my anxiety to rest when I am out there.
Kudos to you for being a rare human who is able to live as nature intended us to live. I tried it once, had a comfortable cabin but no heat, electricity, supplies. I ate berries and boiled acorns (couldn’t bring myself to kill any bugs snakes or fish because I figure my life is worth less than theirs). I didn’t experience peace, but I was distracted enough to make it through the days without topping myself. You’re absolutely right about the stars. Theyre beautiful in the wilderness.
I have tried the cabin thing and it was nice but it was still to close to civilization. I have found that at least for me getting as close to mother nature as I possibly can calms me, makes me forget my problems, brings me to a peace that I don’t experience with anything else.
Sounds nice nice get away from reality for a wile
Getting away from reality is always a nice thing. Being out where you can really find a inner peace, really clear your head, do some serious soul searching is amazing and comforting.
That sounds like so much fun. I discovered camping last year. I can’t do it quite that same you are but I am betting my youngest would be game to try. Thank you for sharing.
Does camping help you?
Man it sounds so cool. If this is what does it for you. Then by all means keep doing it!!!
Your giving me inspiration. Now I want to run to into the wild.
I am convinced that a lot of the So-called modern conveniences that we have in contemporary life are not always good for us anyway. I mean do I really think that the Universal Creator had in mind that we all should be a slave to traffic jams and electronic gadgets who sit for 40+ hours a week in a cubical in some high rise man made building selling commercial junk to anonymous people via computer screen or phone call?? NOPE I DON’T BUY IT. LOL
I don’t buy the lie that the inner cities have all that we need. NOPE>
I don’t buy the lie that fancy computer gadjets can feed the longing of our souls. NOPE>
I don’t buy the lie that following the crowds is always where its at. NOPE
I believe you are on to something. You feel connected to nature.
That might be your place.
That might be the place where your soul feels right and at peace
all the power to ya. ENJOY THE GREAT OUTDOORS
I think many of us could do better in life to spend some time with Mother Nature.
thanks for your post
I can’t wait to get out of the city. When I do go I leave as soon as I get off work. I don’t care if that is midnight or afternoon. More often then not it is midnight. I hit the mountains and lose myself in nature. I always say that I think that is where I feel I belong.
Hi Too Much Pain.
Your post is one of the most peaceful posts that I read in a very long time. I love the mountains too.
I also love the fact that you never take a gun. That’s awesome! I don’t take a gun either when I go to the mountains.
Here is a post that I posted for you. It’s a gift. I hope you enjoy it.
