I had to stop reading the news, it made me severly depressed just seeing how bad everything is. Don’t think there is much you can do to become unaware of it, not sure you’d want to?
Here is a list of things I have tried:
Minecraft (HUGE time suck/distraction)
Programming/computer science
sculpting
singing
humor
exercise
drawing
repairing appliances
gardening
demolition/harvesting materials from old houses, electronics and furniture
car repair
driving
sleeping
cooking
cleaning
training dogs
trying to train cats
attempting to learn amateur hypnosis/psychic abilities
trying to figure out complex math and philosophy
gaining skills that I don’t have to pay people for
Get yourself a 60 year old house, a 21 year old truck, and a bunch of old computers and appliances. The projects just make themselves. I mean, I hear something horrible on the news, but then I think “hey, I turned over the compost today, in 3 months I’ll have some amazing soil.” It’s the little things that irritate me, so it’s the little things that comfort me.
