People say suicide is selfish and cowardly. They have no fucking clue.
If you’re dying from a terminal illness like, say, cancer, you are surrounded by family, friends, and medical staff. They support you, they don’t judge you for your suffering, and they will be holding your hand to the end.
You can tell people you’re going to die. You can say your goodbyes. You can put your affairs in order. People will even help you do it, so you can be at peace in the end.
But suicide? You get none of that.
You have to pretend everything is fine. You can’t tell people goodbye except in a letter they’ll read after you’re gone. You can’t get emotional closure for open wounds. You can’t put financial affairs in order without raising suspicions. You can’t express your fear of death to anyone. And when that final moment comes, nobody is going to be there holding your hand through it.

I agree so much with this.
I discovered everything you said to be true.
It’s why our letters are so eloquently written. It’s also why we practice those letters so much, to make sure that they’re perfect
Unless you hold a reminder of someone close to you. That’s enough for me.
My family says I am being selfish when I talk about wishing I was dead and wanting to finish it already. I think they are selfish for wanting me to be around on Christmas dinner but otherwise completely out of sight and out of mind.
People, who think suicide is “weak” or “selfish” will end up being a victim of Murder-Suicide. Just saying. Hah.
