I just moved from home, in an attempt to save enough money for a college I can’t afford, to an entirely new city. I’ve been excited to move away from that place all my life, but now I feel crippled by adult responsibilities. My rent is 700, and I need to get a job immediately.
But with no job availability, and no experience to speak of in regards to city work, I’m stuck. Without a job, I can’t get insurance, which I need for a psychiatrist, and then for meds.
I need a car to get a job out of town, which I need a job to be able to afford.
I’ve had eight crippling anxiety attacks since I’ve gotten here, and I’m so depressed I don’t want to leave my house (which in a few months I won’t be able to afford).
I won’t even begin to look at college. Taking a gap year was risky enough.
My boyfriend wanted to get a gun for protection in the city. I told him he won’t be able to have it in the house- I will shoot myself.

How about moving back with your family until you have a job and can afford to pay your way through life?
I don’t understand how someone can leave home with no money hoping to “make it” on a wing and a prayer. Life isn’t a tv show, bad things happen if you aren’t properly prepared.
As the saying goes if you fail to plan, you’re planning to fail.
It sucks when reality steps up to throw a bucket of ice water on your plans and dreams, but a3b2c1 may not be far off. It’s tough to get set up in a new city, especially without a job or place. (It’s the old chicken and egg thing; you need both, but can’t get one without the other.)
Even if you and yor bf both find jobs, it might be a challenge to pay that high of rent and have anything left over to save for college. Is a lower rent apt. a possibility, or maybe teaming up with more roommates to split costs?
If your family is at all supportive, as a last resort, it wouldn’t be the end of the world to just admit that it’s not going to happen yet and move back home for a while to save up money (& mental resources) to try again later.
