My Brothers Death

Receiving the phone call, jumping on a plane to LA and taking the elevator up to the 8th floor where my brother was is all a bit of a blur. Walking into to ICU and seeing my brother, broken, swollen, and almost unrecognizable is very clear in my mind. I am not a competitive person, never be.
But even at age of 28 now, my parents and also society seem to teach me that Life is all about “winning, succeeding”, and most especially to “strive for the BEST”, which usually means to try to reach to the TOP, be the number ONE, be the BEST, etc etc.

Fact of the matter is I am worried about leaving unfinished business behind. Basic nutshell, single parent, raised three kids, no suport, no assistance, no family. Struggled, adapted, overcame.. Kids grown except one. Times are harder now than it seems before. Job after job closing, laying off, housing difficulties, making ends meet, vehicle constantly breaking down.. it just never ends. Here’s a short bio:

I’ve been depressed since I was about 12. I’m 19 now. I tried killing myself when I was 17. I took an overdose of Lexapro and antihistamines. I probably took about 90 pills in all but I did not die (obviously). I spent about a week at the hospital. They changed my meds and released me more messed up than I was before. I can really relate with many of these posters here are feeling. and especially of how you’re all so sick and can’t stand the people in general anymore because they reek selfishness and my guess is they’re also so full of superficiality in this materialism-era.
