I need a song of Hope,
one that fills my Soul.
From my neck, remove the rope,
Peace is my only goal.

I sing a song of Hope,
when I take my daily stroll,
it may be narrow in its scope,
Peace is its only toll.

I have a song of Hope,
although it’s rather droll,
it tends to save me from my mope,
Peace fills the empty hole.

I gave a song of Hope
to those who played a role.
My only wish, to help them cope
Peace is in their Soul.

that was pleasant, than you
You’re welcome. Thanks for reading.
FTS, I really appreciate this poem. You don’t know how much it helps to see you reaching out with a song of hope. This is a fantastic poem.
To be honest, your poetry & your efforts are what made me wonder about the forces of good & evil I posted about. There are so many evil rotten scummy people in my life who are tearing me down. And then there’s you, there’s vmy, all the great people on this site, there are even 2 or 3 ppl I’ve met in real life who are trying to sing me a song of hope.
That’s what made me wonder why the universe would be designed to have these 2 teams, good vs. evil, or is it all part of the same plan? Someone knocks me down, someone picks me up. I keep going, each time a little different, toward some goal I have no clue about.
Well, fwiw, I couldn’t make it without songs of hope. I’d love it one day if I could say I have peace in my soul, but that seems so far off… in the meantime I’ll take what ya got.
heh… yeah, peace in the soul. That’s all I’m after. I may write about it like I have it, but I don’t.
And to go along with your theme today, I’m not sure I was meant to have it until I die. Too many things I don’t know. Too many things I don’t want to know.
“peace in the soul … to go along with your theme today, I’m not sure I was meant to have it until I die.”
Set up another round cuz I’m onna roll!!
That’s prolly the closest thing to what I feel in my heart. I think some of us operate better under pressure. So in the interest of cosmic efficiency, we are not supposed to have peace. It makes us better workers, better soldiers, better everything.
Like imagine if you’re in the army and your barracks is a 5-star hotel with swedish maids giving you massages every hour. You’d be a lousy soldier! So maybe instead we get a mean drill instructor who beats us down, makes us feel like crap & turns us into awesome fighting machines for the sake of the cause.
If that turns out to be the case…. jeez, I wouldn’t know what to say. I mean, it makes perfect sense. But what a rotten thing to do to us.
“… what a rotten thing to do to us”
Exactly… there is a reason you only have to do 4 yrs in armed forces.
You can make it a lifetime if you wish (glutton for misery), and even then you can be denied.
good point though…. I think there is something to that “cattle prod” thing
