I have just slashed my wrists once before and that was while trying to commit suicide. Clearly I figured out one doesn’t die by cutting. But a lot of people say cutting is helpful. Is it? If yes, how? And why?
I am not a “cutter”, so I can’t speak to that. However, I have and do find ways to hurt or injure myself other than cutting.
Inflicting pain on myself does help me however. If only to replace mental pain with physical pain. Physical pain is, or seems to me at least, pleasant compared to emotional pain. I am in control of how much, when, and I know precisely its cause. This is not the case with mental pain.
So can it help? I would say, at least for me, that sure, it helps me in a way. Somehow the addition of physical pain seems to lessen the mental pain. It does not sound logical, but that is how it feels to me.
It does, but not for everyone. I guess if you want to find out you’ll just have to try. I don’t discourage it, neither do I encourage it. It helps me because I get some twisted form of pleasure from it. Seeing the red blood drip or flow, cutting as deep as you like. Feeling the pain spread through the cut. It just feels so good. But it is different for everyone, I guess.
Physical pain releases chemicals that in amny cases fliush away mental pain.
I’d recommend against it because it can be like an addiction.
And unless you do it somewhere not visible to normal sight, people will try to get in your business about it.
And if you recover one day you may dislike the scars reminding you of the bad times.
i cut all the time. contrary to popular belief it can be controlled and managed. it doesn’t have to be an addiction. while cutting does not offer permanent relief. you can learn how to ride out the relief it gives you. learn how to make the good feelings it gives last longer, so you don’t have to cut as much. the trick is after cutting, do things you enjoy. build up the good and ride for a while. until you feel the need to do it again. be conscious about it. make sure you don;t go to deep, keep them clean. clean before, during and after. use body lotion with healing affects. will help them heal faster and fade better.
if you find you don’t like it, then thats perfectly fine. but having done it for years myself. i’ve learned that it doesn’t have to be thing thing you can’t control. it can be done in a much more responsible way.
i hope this is the advice you wanted. true none of us should hurt ourselves. but sometimes for at least a while it can help. be aware though that it might not help for long. it still helps me.
i hope you things get better for you, and you get to a place where you don;t need this information at all.
I thought if u cut up the artery it worked?! Cutting releases endorphin’s… If u were to cut make sure u keep it somewhere people wont see (Thigh) Have a way to hide blood, like a plaster and out of curiosity did u cut across or up when u attempted. Be sure to let us know if it helps, im curious to see.
