I’d say both are equally selfish. But there probably situations in which one is more selfish than the other. It all depends on your perspective. Whether you are the one that no longer wishes to live, or the one that is terrified of losing someone they truly care about.
Selfishness itself is an interesting suject. Many people see it as a bad personality trait when in reality, it’s a characteristic of all humans. Selfishness/self-centeredness is a form of self-preservation. It’s a part of human evolution. Now comes the irony of using a self-preservation technique to kill onself. lol. (I apologize in advance for my morbid sense of humor).
Okay… mini-rant over.
They are. I’ve encountered this too. Those people don’t want to feel pain at the thought of your suicide. Yet they are willing for you to LIVE IN PAIN, so they don’t have to suffer a few moments.
it doesn’t matter if anyone else thinks it’s selfish or not. what matters is what you feel inside about it . you already know the answer to your own question I think. we were born with instincts to know right from wrong. everyone lives in some form of pain or another. that’s what makes us human. the pain is to remind us that we are alive. no matter how much we think we may be hurting, someone , somewhere is always in much worse shape. grass is green , sun is shining..
It’s undoubtlably more selfish for one to take their own life and bring an end to their pain. You’ll be inflicting a fuckload more pain that you’re currently feeling on those who are trying to stop you.

You have to live with your pain so ultimately you have to decide what’s best for you.
