I’m sitting in my high school integrated science class, the closest seat to the front right hand corner facing the class. My teacher is babbling about how my class never shuts up.
“maybe if you actually taught something once in a while..” my mind starts fading and my eyes begin to wonder..
I land on the obnoxious popular boy sitting in the corner with his “clique”, I wonder if he knows they’re going to leave him if they find someone better. There’s some kid sleeping in the back corner by the door, I wonder if his mom cares about his slipping grades.. I wonder why he sleeps so much. There’s the two girls I used to be best friends with, i wonder if they ever talk about me. There’s the girl who pretends to be dumb to get attention from boys, I wonder if it’s working for her. There’s the boy I made out with the summer before eighth grade, I wonder if he remembers.. I wonder if he thinks I’m a good kisser. Then there’s me, I wonder if they wonder why I wear so many bracelets.. I wonder if they wonder what my grades are or if I think about them. Then reality hits me and I realize, why would they?

You are more important than you think… Your importance is so much more than whether people are talking or thinking about you. You already have accomplishments in life… and I’m sure you have plans for the future. Much of the importance of your life rests with your heart… your hopes… and your actions. High school is the first step… It lets you build a foundation for going forward.
The grass might be greener on the other side but you can assume the water bill is higher too. Grass lawns are such a waste of water. I understand why the English have grass (because it rains all the time) but in America it is such a waste of water. Anyway, metaphorically speaking, the grass is only green because the property owner takes care of it. If you don’t take care of your grass it’s not going to be green. Like Kipling said “Gardens are not made by singing ‘Oh, how beautiful,’ and sitting in the shade.†You need to take care of yourself, be more concerned with your character than your reputation or other people’s reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are. You need to stop focusing on other people and worry about yourself. Improve yourself, educate yourself, and love yourself. If you feel that you are not being challenged in your class then you need to take a higher level class, and if you feel that your teacher is not teaching you then you need to find better teachers online (YouTube or other downloadable class lectures). And if you don’t feel like doing that then open your textbook. As the old saying goes, Great people talk about ideas, average people talk about things, and small people talk about other people. Don’t waste your potential.
