So my “best friend” has this new friend that she’s gotten really close to. At first it was whatever, it didn’t really bother me. But now that I’ve gotten to know the girl more and I absolutely hate her guts… well no I won’t say hate I just HIGHLY dislike her. We have the same medical class and some kids in my class are doing a project about suicide awareness. I was pretty excited that they were doing it because suicide isn’t a topic we really discuss at my school (which I think it should be). But anyways the girl, my “best friend’s” new friend, she keeps making these very ignorant comments about suicidal people and people who self harm… She says stuff like suicide is never the answer (it is for me), she says when people self harm they’re just looking for attention (i’m not an attention seeker), and worse of all she says suicide is selfish and STUPID. I understand why some people say that suicide is selfish but some people truly have NO ONE who cares. Are those people being selfish too? But stupid? Really.. it’s not stupid to feel like the only way to end your pain is to kill yourself, and to think that you’re not good enough, it’s not stupid at all. I cut myself, but I don’t do it for attention I do it because at a point in time that was the only way for me to relax and calm down, and now I’ve just haven’t been able to stop.. Not that I want to. It just really irritates me that some people really just don’t get it. I realize that there might be people who have gone through far worse then me and don’t try and solve their problems by cutting or attempting suicide. BUT GUESS WHAT.

That’s great that some people don’t turn to suicide as a way out. That’s awesome(no sarcasm intended). But for some of us suicide is the best option. I really want to tell her to stop saying stuff like that because it’s extremely offensive but I don’t want to blurt out to my whole class that I’ve attempted suicide or that I cut… -_-

Maybe, you don’t have to tell the whole class you self-harm, or have attempted suicide. You could just say that some people might mind the comments she’s making offensive and you think she should stop. Everybody is entitled to their own opinions of course, but saying comments like that isn’t acceptable and i think you should say something. And i understand that you don’t want your whole class to know, but you could just say that you dont think its acceptable that she says things like that. And most probably other people think the same as you, there just not as strong as you are and need a bit of help to speak out :3 i know i repeated myself allot, and i do that allot 🙂
Well this isn’t the first time she says stuff like that, and I’ve told her to stop but she won’t listen and the whole class always agrees with her and they’ll just laugh at the fact that some people self-harm or that some people are contemplating suicide.
don’t take it personal and be quite, she’s just a bimbo right? and i say things like “i like her i just don’t like her that much”
Hmm I might start using that, if you don’t mind.
talk to the teacher after class. be more out spoken about it the more bad light you but on it the more negative attention these comments will get if you know what I mean
