We, as citizens, have the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. But what if we don’t want our rights? Criminals continually wave their right to a lawyer, right to remain silent, all that good stuff. And some of them actually use it to their advantage, like smart dumbasses.
But to wave our right to life? If it’s done against our will, could it be considered murder? The definition of ‘murder’ (from dictionary.com) is the unlawful act of killing someone. Now, in my own personal terms? Murder is done against the victim’s will. Their right to life isn’t waved, just invaded… For all eternity.
But suicide?.. Why does that bring up a whole other issue? When people speak of suicide, some say it’s wrong politically. Some say it’s wrong religiously. As a friend of mine says to me constantly, “You’ll go to hell if you commit suicide’… AND BY THE WAY, why do they say ‘commit’ suicide, like you ‘commit’ a crime? Is it technically committing a crime, to commit suicide? Or to ‘commit’ to a marriage?
Is suicide really that much of a controversy? Shouldn’t be. In the mind of a 15-year old, bi-romantic, Mexican-American male (aka me.), we’re just waving our right to life. We HAVE that opportunity. So why do people command suicidal attemptors to go into a hospital, FORCE us into therapy? WE HAVE THAT RIGHT. If we don’t want it, why should we be forced to have it?!
I’m sorry, but I’m currently needing somewhere to vent. My mind is going haywire, and I can barely handle the current stress of an arguing family. It sends my mood down so much, I lock myself in my little private room (aka the bathroom downstairs, smallest room in the house) until it all goes away. It has yet to go away. So I’m trying to block it out on the couch instead.

I believe there is no such thing as rights. They are a fictional, man-made concept. Rights are supposedly something that cannot be taken away, but if they can be revoked then they are nothing but a privilege.
So you’re saying we’re taking our ‘privilege’ to life?… That’s really interesting, actually… Makes someone think! I like it!
You qot Sonic while I have a space Invaders mothership or what this Is!So jealous!!!!!
haha sorry I didn’t read the post,I was just on comments and I saw sonic!!
I think there is neither a right to live nor die. Existence is simply a state of being that we just happen to be in. If one wishes to die, that simply just is. If someone does kill themselves then I believe it was their choice and that is all the justification it needs. There is no external force judging or labeling their action as their “right” or not. Only people debate that, when in all reality I believe it just is.
@Lifeishorrible- So a fellow Sonic fanatic? Well, hola, mi amigo!
@Khajiit- Still as interesting ideas as ever.
In the US the only absolute right is the right to have a gun … at least for the majority … even that is debatable … everything else is bestowed or removed at the will of the plutocrats and their legislative and military/’law” enforcement apparatus
revolutionary dawg
@Dawg Very true. The right of free speech and press can be minimized if it’s for the safety of the group, but god forbid anyone try to take away our guns!
I couldn’t agree more! Why is it ok for people to choose our rights? We alone choose what we want to do with our lives. We aren’t somebody else’s life to controll. We’re our own boss.
Someone told you you’d go to hell? That’s weird. I was raised in a church, and I’ve read the bible and I’ve never really seen anything about suicide meaning hell. My youth pastor told me once that even during the act of death, God counts what you believe. All that matters is your faith in Him. It doesn’t matter how many sins you commit. It doesn’t matter if your sin is horrible. All that matters is if you have faith in God. If you have faith in God=Heaven. Suicide doesn’t mean hell. Hell only exists for those of no faith. That’s what I think anyway.
That’s really interesting – I’ve never thought about those things in that way before. It really made me think. I guess “rights” are really just privileges, like @khajiit said, since they can be taken away.
@AscahisBroken- Religion is mighty broken up ’round the US, my friend
