Number three, exams.
Everyone goes through the stress of exams, I am currently in my final year of high school so there is a lot of pressure on me to do well. I am targeted to get A*’s in everything, I’m apparently gifted and talented, however that won’t happen. You see my two biggest fears in life are failure and rejection. So in order to avoid failure, I simply don’t try anymore. I’m underachieving in everything, I’m still on A’s and B’s, because in my mind if I try and fail then I’m just an idiot, but if I don’t try and fail then I can blame it on the fact I didn’t try. Stupid I know but that’s just the way I am, I don’t set myself up for failure or success anymore, I simply just coast through life. Whether it’s in school, friendships or relationships, I don’t give myself the opportunity to get hurt.

eyegoespop,
failure and rejection is something everyone dosen’t want! and i coast too! but every now in then ” throw the dice! take a chance! who’s knows? you may get lucky!!”
i have!!!! 🙂
When we get burned-out the choices become more limited: coast and participate, or just abandon completely. I think one reason that parents push, is because they know it’s excruciating and their parents’ push helped once or twice for themselves. One last thing is that some (not all) training is exhaustive to the subjects: all of the students are intended to reach burnout.
So each student needs to budget emotional-toll, time and effort on a per-course basis. This must be done without letting other courses starve for attention. Whether one likes a course and the other people involved are a couple of other factors. My point is, that people generally agree that higher education has become more complex and difficult. There are worse things in life than a few B grades.
As others above have written, don’t torture yourself too long. Consider an enlistment in the military. Consider an Associate’s degree at a community college. Like the others, I’d suggest to keep your mind and eyes open for opportunities that you could have fun in, or at least enjoy some friendships along the way.
If you go Air Force or Army, you’ll experience stuff that’s not possible anywhere else. Good luck and God bless you.
