Depression never goes away……never……at least for me it seems to enjoy the comforts of my being. However, give it a few days….If you still feel fine then maybe it has just vanished but I wouldn’t bet on it.
But what i think is often overlooked, is that much of the source of depression is based on the past, and the permanent things recorded therein, and things that cannot be changed, or are very unlikely to change or become acceptable in the future.
I think that with legitimate depression, often, the only viable option is to somehow learn to live with it. And it can be profoundly difficult to live “a good life,” in the clutches of affliction. One of the worst things about depression is that it often destroys the will to live. Without a strong will to live, all the things that non-depressed people easily do and take for granted, become nearly impossible to sustain.

I think if you fix or get rid of whats making you depressed then it will go away

Sure, in theory, that should occur.
