I am most sure that today in the music scene talent and practice will get you nowhere, nor will it get you noticed by record labels or the fans the labels control.
Music has turned into a fashion show that has nothing to do with music.
I have come to the conclusion that my 16 years of classical training and practicing many different instruments has all been for nothing since I refuse to cover my body in tattoos, play hot topic dress up and crop my hair off at a weird angle. I am most sure if I did those three things my art would be accepted no matter what style of music I chose to make.
I am not going to stop doing what I love, but I am going to stop trying to get my art out to the masses. I’m fucking done associating with any of the tattooed phony mindless drones. Its no longer worth the time or the effort.
So, from the pit of my burning nauseous stomach please, everyone of you, go fucking die.

I stopped tuning into corporate radio many moons ago. I hate today’s music scene with an unkept hatred and desire to murder any who deem this top 40 bullshit ‘music’. In the midst of my booty rage, I have discovered some rare gems which I would not hear anywhere else (and definitely not on commercial radio). I tune in to student radio mostly these days, they play some whack shit but the folk rock and indietronica I hear is pretty decent. The classical station also plays a selection of Spanish guitaring which I find rather pleasant to listen to, especially on rainy nights such as this.
Fuck the corporate world, do your own thing? I’ve made it a habit of searching out the hard to find recording artists in my own country and across the world. To know that you are of only a select few to enjoy such salacious sounds is refreshing and invigorating. I implore you to live out this passion of your’s, regardless of the corporations and shite, and I’d love to stumble across one of your tracks some day.
Keep it real 🙂
Thank you for the kind words, I too listen to college stations and the oldies channel but I fear I’m becoming the Insane Clown Posse of rock music. Don’t get me wrong, I love ICP, seen them every time they’ve come to town since ’99 but the feedback I’ve gotten from my cd’s I’ve passed out are either you love it or you hate it, theres no in between.
I’ve been trying to put together a competent band for a couple of years now so I can actually play live more than a few time with out everything turning to shit, as of now I play all the instruments, but everyone I try to jamm with likes to talk about making music more than they like to actually make music!!! This one ***** has stood me up twice now on a jamm session because she “forgot what day it was”. I have sneaking suspicions that it’s because I don’t have one arm covered with random tattoos or a cropped off hair do.
I have music I’d like to play with others. Lately I been doing my own rythm and lead. I don’t plan on going into a studio but I do wanna record my music so I can listen to it n see whats missing then add it if need be. I been playin guitar for 22 yrs now. Although I like alotta music my favorite is metal. The speed, the adrenaline and the sounds of the crunch my guitar makes, heh. It helps calm me down, ironically I do drink coffe before playing. And I agree with Music isn’t music anymore, I don’t want the Hollywood act or mainstream bullshit.
Pop music is cookie cutter. You really have to search and look hard for legitimately good new music. You study instruments and classical techniques? Check out Kamelot’s Silverthorne, tarja’s act 1 and xandria’s neverwold end.
@Reviarg: I’ve practiced music and studied music technique for 16 years, ever since I was 9 years old. For seven of those years I studied under two of my states most awarded music directors. For 50 odd years they’ve been placing first division in the state UIL competition. I myself started out on the Eb Alto Saxophone, and in all have won 18 or 19 (I’d half to go through and count my medals and certificates) gold medals and first division solo and duet UIL awards.
Soon after I started learning the saxophone I pick up an old warped guitar my big brother bought and tried to play but just couldn’t. Before to long I was needing some bass, I borrowed a friends Fender Jazz bass and “got my thump on” lol I was “tub thumpin”
by the time I was a sophomore in high school I needed some drums, and this kid owed me $800 for some “stuff” I had got him and only payed me half up front, so I was like “I’ll give this $400 back if you trade me your 6 piece Pearl drum set for your “product”. So from then on I’ve been practicing percussion as well. And thinks for the Jamm recommendations, kinda like you said, I’m always on the search rot music that’s not pure shit. What the fuck is a “motionless in white” any fucking ways?
@bose 76: man 22 years is a long time to not have heard yourself on a playback of some sort!! I wish I could help you some way make that dream a reality!! I have an in-home studio I do all my recording on. It’s essentially an Mbox music processor that runs Pro Tools 08 and a Mac Probook. I had to be a straight fucking hustla to make it happen but god fucking dammit I made it happen and one full length 10 song cd and countless of singles later just like Mr. Dangerfield “I can’t get no mother fucking respect”
