I am going to kill myself soon. I have a question, however? Would it be better to delete my social media accounts completely before I commit the deed, or should I leave some of them for my family to do with as they please? (I also kind of wanted to keep my writing blog up as some sort of…I don’t know, testament to how much I loved creative writing.)
So, would it better to wholly erase my online identity–photos, videos, etc.? Would that lessen my family’s pain, since they would have less reminders of me after I die? Or would it better to let them decide what to do with them, even if they choose to hurt themselves by keeping some of my profiles up?

If you were a relative of a suicide, what would you prefer?
I think I would want to have some sort of memorial for them via one of their social media accounts (probably Facebook), so that I may preserve photographic and textual memories of them. However, that also invites the possibility that the scum of humanity spam the memorial with hatred and disrespect, especially considering how suicide is stigmatized, even if the page is regularly moderated. So perhaps deleting everything is better.
I’d leave a suicide note on your SM (if you want to do a note) then just keep your profile up and don’t give out password. It’ll get deleted eventually, but people will see it.
I deleted my Facebook (not suicide related) but I’m going to keep other social media up. A very small few people on there will understand a prolonged absence will mean I’m dead.
