So, I watching pretty little liars with my sister right now, I have to be quick. If there are typos im sorry. So, I have been taking sertraline(Zoloft) for the last year, and I just forgot to take it the last week. I haven’t thought about suicide at all, and I looked it up to see if the medication had any effect. I couldn’t get a clear answer, so I’m asking now If Zoloft could have any effect on me. Thanks.

Are you asking if you shouldn’t take it anymore? If you’re making reference to thinking you don’t need it, because you feel okay after a week off, I think it builds up in your system. Personally I would stop taking my meds (15-19 years old) and think I didn’t need it, but I did. If you ask others who have been on antidepressants, antipsychotics or anxiety meds I’m sure they all thought that at one point in time.
If you’re asking if od’ing in it would kill you, the chances of that are so so low. Or are you asking about side effects…?
It’s ironic but anti-depressants can cause suicidal thoughts. If you’ve stopped taking Zoloft and now you have no suicidal thoughts, perhaps Zoloft was causing your suicidal thoughts. I’m a little unclear on your question, so I apologize if my answer wasn’t what you were looking for.
I’m assuming you see a doctor for your prescriptions, so you should talk with him or her about this change. Good luck. 🙂
Sure it could. But one subjective experience isn’t enough to qualify an answer like that. Your brain is still what it was before you started taking zoloft – you’re still you, your thoughts are still your thoughts. All the zoloft does is produce an ocean of inter-synaptic serotonin as lubricant for the gears, so to speak. Brains don’t like it when the thing they’re supposed to do – the reuptake/release and modulation of hormone levels, for instance – gets hijacked by some stupid pill, so they might respond in radical ways in an effort to restore homogeneity, to return your hormone balance to what it was prior to taking the stuff. After a while, your brain gets used to the new normal and stops protesting so much, but if you suddenly stop taking it, your brain might react in a similar way as it did when you first started taking it. I’d talk to your doctor about it, rather than relying on some random internet people, though. Who can tell if the shit we’re saying is actually accurate or even relevant?
