Bingo!! You hit the nail on the head. I just read a Kurt Vonnegut book, Galapagos, where he states that evolution took a major mis-step when it gave humans an over-sized brain. Big mistake! It will eventually cause humans to become extinct.
YES, the human race can be very critical, very picky, very trendy, very harsh at times.
But you can Always carve out your own little corner of the world to live in and be happy – if your strong enough to go your own way…even if the rabble doesn’t think your cool.

I wish I had more to say to this, but it’s literally the way you’ve written.
I can see kids in the streets with their parents and try to determine how much of an impact society has already has on them. Like “you’re like 1 year old, you don’t think you’re ugly just yet, you don’t care about any of this petty stuff – and you’re about 8, have you started wondering and faltering already because somebody has shamed you?”
