I’ve just spent 30 minutes trying to post a comment. I kept getting logged out every time I attempted to post and then my password was not accepted so I had a new password sent to my email and logged in again. Still could not post a comment so I rebooted my PC and logged in again and attempted to post again over and over and then got a pop up message saying I was posting too many comments too quickly. I can not see any of my comments in the normal view or the pending section. So I’ll post my comment to the Prozac Nation post here.
I was attempting to post this:
Antidepressants can take months before you see any improvement and some people will feel worse and experience more severe suicidal thoughts before they begin to experience any benefit. I was on antidepressants for over 15 years and was constantly changed when I got no benefit. I have been prescribed over 50 different types of antidepressant, anti-anxiety and anti-psychotic drugs which included Prozac.
The active pharmaceutical ingredient in Prozac is fluoxetine hydrochloride, a chemical compound containing fluoride. If you look online there are many conspiracy theories about fluoride. It is suggested that the governments of western countries have faked the benefit of fluoride on peoples teeth and that the fluoride has proven effects of sedating people and making them more tolerant and compliant when being controlled.
Fluoride is highly toxic and is the ingredient in rat poison but our governments say it is a benefit to us in small doses. Personally I don’t like the idea of ingesting fluoride but you should make your own decision based on your own research. There is much independent research online. I’d be cautious of government studies.

Thanks iv been changing my anti depressants for a wile now so thought I’d give this ago I also know fluoride isn’t good for you it’s also in the water but il give them ago see how things go what was your experience on Prozac
I didn’t really have any success with Prozac but I also didn’t have any problems with it. The worst antidepressant that caused a suicide attempt and horrible withdrawals was Aropax (paroxetine).
The most success I had was with both Lexapro (escitalopram oxalate) and Luvox (fluvoxamine) but nothing totally eradicated my depression.
I have recently started taking Endep (amitriptyline hydrochloride) known as Elavil in the United States but now discontinued, I think. I have taken this before with little effect but I am now taking it for its chronic pain relieving properties as my Doctor weans me off morphine.
I wish you luck with finding something that helps.
And I had the same problem trying to make an account was a nightmare but someone on here helped me out which I’m greatful for
@mike: it appears all your comments went to trash. You may want to email the admins to see what is up.
Interesting take on Prozac. The town I am from is a hotbed for Fluoride conspiracy theories. My dermatologist was thought of as a bit of a kook in many ways but his passion for protesting our town from fluorinating out water didn’t fall of deaf ears. He was cutting edge in the world of dermatology as well. I had severe plaque psoriasis as a teen ager and he got my skin clear in 6 months time. Before that I looked awful and people used to whisper I had AIDS. I’m very grateful for him
I have no idea how that has anything at all to do with what you posted. Anyway, glad to see your still bouncing around. I think of you often.
Thank you Hazy, maybe admin feels all my comments belong in the trash.
I don’t believe any of our governments have our best interests at heart. They all do what is best for their pockets and that usually means doing what is best for the big money making corporations. There are many people out there trying to spread the truth about our governments but most people don’t want to believe their own governments would do these things to them.
I’m always lurking around here Hazy. Good to see you still here Hazy, or maybe not. I wish none of us felt the need to be on a suicide site. Take care Hazy.
Here is some info about fluoride is anyone is interested.
The fluoride added to 90% of drinking water is hydrofluoric acid which is a compound of fluorine that is a chemical byproduct of aluminum, steel, cement, phosphate, and nuclear weapons manufacturing. Such fluoride is manmade.
As aluminum production increased in the first half of the twentieth century, it became necessary to find somewhere to put the fluoride. Manufacturers could no longer get away with dumping it into rivers or landfills, because it was poisoning crops and making livestock sick. Francis Frary, chief scientist for ALCOA, had an idea. He commissioned Gerald Cox at the Mellon Institute, to conduct research regarding the benefits of adding fluoride to the water supply. The Mellon Institute was frequently hired by big business to produce research that supported their industries, and for several decades they produced research showing that asbestos was safe and did not cause cancer. Hmmm.
They also produced reports assuring everyone that fluoride was not toxic and would be beneficial to add to our drinking water for healthy teeth.
Another proponent of the safety of fluoride at that time was scientist Harold Hodge, who was later revealed to to have been part of the the Human Radiation Experiment; injecting test subjects with plutonium and uranium in 1945-46. This was documented by Pulitzer prize winning reporter Eileen Welsonne in The Plutonium Files.
Hodge was also chief toxicologist of The Manhattan Project and fluoride was a key component in the production of the atom bomb. His studies were conducted with a bias toward proving fluoride safe, which would protect the government and industry from lawsuits.
The “research science” done to support water fluoridation was underwritten by these massive companies:
Aluminum Company of America (ALCOA)
Aluminum Company of Canada
American Petroleum Institute
Dupont
Kaiser Aluminum
Reynolds Steel
US Steel
National Institute of Dental Research
Convincing the general public that we need to add fluoride to our water supply was one of the most sophisticated cons of all time. It created a multi-billion dollar industry and enabled manufacturers to sell this worthless toxic byproduct of aluminum to local municipalities for a profit rather than costing billions to dispose of it safely.
PR master Edward Bernays also known as “The Father of Spin” created the PR campaign to sell fluoride to the nation as an additive “recommended by your doctor and dentist for healthy teeth”. He was a pioneer of modern propaganda and used the theories of mass psychology and persuasion to suit the needs of corporate and political organizations.
Bernays even created marketing campaigns for tobacco companies using the doctor and dentist endorsement.
He even wrote a book called Propaganda and another one called Public Relations. For you trivia buffs, he was also Sigmund Freud’s nephew.
In 1950 the public health service endorsed water fluoridation and almost immediately there was a national movement against it led by Dr. George Walbott, who was also the first physician to warn against fatal allergic reactions to penicillin, and that smoking causes emphysema.
Walbott discovered that low dose fluoride was causing allergic reactions in some of his patients who displayed a variety of symptoms such as headaches, back pain, gastric problems, muscle fatigue, etc.
He conducted a series of double blind tests further proving his fluoride allergy theory, and published several papers about it.
Walbott was criticized and marginalized for his research and for speaking out against fluoride, tobacco, and penicillin, which is why you’ve never heard of him.
The main fluoride chemical added to water today is hydrofluorosilicic acid an industrial by-product from the phosphate fertilizer industry.
Fluoride given to rats has been proven to cause bone cancer, liver cancer, and a host of other physical ailments.
Dr. William Marcus, Senior Science Advisor to the EPA Office of Water, was fired because of his outspoken opposition to water fluoridation in the early 1990’s. He even claimed that they rigged their test results to show that fluoride did not cause cancer when in fact it did.
Researcher Dr. Phyllis Mullenix was asked to study fluoride and was surprised to find and prove that fluoride is a neurotoxin and causes effects like hyper activity, memory problems, and IQ problems similar to ADD/ADHD in laboratory rats. After submitting her findings, she was promptly fired from the Forsyth Dental Research Center. She went from being a leading neurotoxicologist at a Harvard affiliated research institute to an industry pariah. This assignment and her findings ruined her career as a grant-funded research scientist.
Not only does fluoride in water not help your teeth, too much of it causes permanent damage in young children’s teeth between 3 months and 8 years old. This is called dental fluorosis. Fluoride also accumulates in the bones eventually causing a bone disease called skeletal fluorosis in adults.
Welcome to Opposite Land where right is wrong, and up is down:
It is illegal to dump fluoride into our lakes and rivers, but it is perfectly fine to put in our drinking water and toothpaste.
Cities with fluoridated water have higher cavity rates and higher cancer death rates when compared to cities with unfluoridated water. As of 2010, 66% of US water supplies are currently fluoridated, but the good new is that since 1999 over 60 U.S. communities have rejected fluoridation.
Hidden sources of fluoride: Most commercial crops are watered with fluoridated water. These crops absorb the fluoride. Fruit juices from concentrate are reconstituted with fluoridated water, and bottled water, even if it’s filtered, usually has fluoride in it.
Fluoride is still defended today for two reasons: The massive profit produced by selling it to local municipalities, and the massive liability and lawsuits that would follow an admission that it is in fact toxic and harmful.
The Fluoride Deception is a book based on ten years of research by BBC reporter Christopher Bryson on the history and dangers of water fluoridation, and is some of the source material for this post. His research is so in-depth and well documented, it is virtually irrefutable.
There is also a ton of information and independent research from all over the world at www .FluorideAlert.org
Fluoride Film Fest!
Watch An Inconvenient Tooth (best name ever) and Fluoridegate.
Despite all the evidence, proponents of water fluoridation are still calling scientific research that shows fluoride to be toxic “conspiracy theories”, but the world is waking up.
Proof #1 98% of Western Europe has now rejected Water Fluoridation…
and their children’s teeth are just as healthy as children’s teeth in the US.
Proof #2 Since 1997 the FDA requires all fluoride toothpaste sold in the U.S. carry this poison warning:
WARNING: Keep out of reach of children under 6 years of age. If you accidentally swallow more than used for brushing, seek professional help or call a poison control center immediately.
This is because a tube of toothpaste contains enough fluoride to kill a small child, and most young children swallow some toothpaste while brushing. But even if you don’t swallow your toothpaste, unhealthy levels of fluoride are still absorbed sublingually through the capillaries under your tongue and go directly into your bloodstream.
Another interesting tidbit: Bottled water companies are not required to disclose what type of filtration they use, if any. Don’t believe the “Natural Mountain Spring” hype, many of them are simply selling you tap water with fluoride in it.
Cooking with tap water
The main reason not to cook in tap water is that it concentrates the fluoride which then binds to the vegetables you’re about to eat.
Wow thank Mike. I’ve heard these arguments before. It is a really interesting topic. I live in a city with Fuorinated water. Not much I can do except filter the water we drink, which we do through our refridgerator. Not a prefect world, but something at least. I don’t use bottled water because I don’t want to contribute to the plastic in the landfill and would rather not use than trust my municipality is appropriately recycling the plastic bottles my family is throwing away.
I’ve been on every medication under the sun. One that worked really well was an MAOI called Nardil and Parnate. You just have to watch what you eat and what type of over the counter medicines you take with it or it could kill you. I was SO happy and felt alive for the first time. Then it pooped out on me. 🙁
I’m tired of taking medicine and most of it doesn’t work. I’m treatment-resistant. I was told to do ECT, but no way in hell I’m frying my brain. Maybe I’ll decide to take Latuda. I’m afraid, but I already want to die so bad and life is completely empty. Maybe it’s worth a shot.
I guess it depends… antidepressants might or might not work. But I’m not sure they will fix the underlying issues of depression, what caused said person to be depressed. Don’t like some of those side effects either – one is even loss of empathy among many others but apparently the newer type whatstheterm e.g Zoloft is one brand of them have less side effects.
I don’t think depression is just a chemical imbalance. It seems like doctors are oversimplifying it. Its like ‘oh your depressed, ok take these tablets’. You know, the psychiatric industry makes billions off this…
I think what alot of depressed people really need is some help and support, like this website. For the heck of it, try the antidepressants anyway, but I would suggest doing some research first. Maybe independent, not government, not medical… depends but these two are usually biased, some will just say ooooh its good because they are trying to sell it to you.
Just my opinion. Hope i did not offend anyone if I did I’m sorry
Nope, I think you have a valid opinion there.
You are right. If you read about the drugs used in Psychiatry, you will see that they say that “It is thought that the drug works in this way or that way” . They don’t really know, they are simply playing a guessing game and are only guessing that depression can be related to a chemical imbalance. Maybe it can in some cases but my depression never responded greatly to any medications.
I remember reading an article about the big Pharmaceutical Companies paying off Doctors and Scientists to go to Japan to try and introduce antidepressants to the Japanese public because Japan never recognized depression. It was simply sadness and not considered as a treatable disease but with a multi million dollar promotional campaign and free gifts and holidays provided for Japanese Doctors they got their foot in the door of Japan and started raking in the money from Japan.
You know Mike, you have a good point. I always feel better when I get out and move my body around. I’ve been in hermit mode for the last couple of days and I’m in a really craptastic head space.
Time to get up, wack on some music and have a dance around the house.
I think exercise would help a lot of people. Not everyone is obese, but if you’re not working out and overweight, of course you’re going to feel like garbage. It’s amazing how much working out can change your outlook completely and make you have a great day. I’ve just been too bummed out to get moving lately. I have to though. Can’t stuff my face forever without physical activity.
Exercise is probably the best thing for depression but when people are really depressed it is very difficult to find motivation to simply bath, eat or get out of bed. I found having an exercise buddy helped me greatly because I knew somebody was waiting for me and I didn’t want to let them down. If I had to exercise alone I’d convince myself that I’d catch up later and always make excuses.
