Various Thoughts:
1) I’m coming down with a cold/flu thing, and have a sore throat.
I tried the important time-honored therapy known as “To hell with it, I’m having ice cream.”
And yet my throat is still sore, so this is going to last a few days.
2) I also am sneezing and sniffing, so apparently ToTrees and I will both be going (*sniff sniff*) for awhile. This is ok. I’m in good company.
3) Add all the other muscle aches and unmentionable disturbances that come with cold/flu bug things, and I will have my head in a fog for a few days. (More so than usual, if you can imagine that.)
4) Chloraseptic cough drops taste TERRIBLE.

Cordless, i live in Arizona, it said on the news we were hit pretty hard with that, coming down with a cold/flu thing, and have a sore throat.
I got it a month ago and still have it, everyone at work has it, it just hangs in there. i tried that preventive shit, i didn’t work, a lot of people have gone to the doctor there’s nothing they can do for it, some people wound up in the hospital, i noticed they completely ignored it kept working hard, rest a lot, eat, and it will get better, hopefully quickly, i still have it but i’m not getting worse. a little better everyday.
Yikes! 😮
That sounds awful.
Luden’s cough drops taste awesome; they taste like candy. not sure if it’s effective tho lol
Try to get some vitamin C. It’ll help.
(eat those little things in-between the ice cream…) 😛
I remember my mom used to use those.
They tasted awesome but they didn’t really numb my throat.
But yeah, delicious!
@ Bah … lol .. i kid you not u brought ludens everyday as a child ..
Cordless, yeah pretty bad! just don’t ignore it. get in chicken soup mode. i like a baked potatoe when i’m not feeling good too! my mother use to make me one when i was young, my grandmother was Italian from the old country she use to spit on my forehead and make the sign of the cross with her finger. 🙂
Drat!
I’m single and live alone and can’t stand up in front of a stove long enough to make anything.
I’ll have to microwave soup, maybe.
I’ll imagine myself spitting on your forehead and see if that helps me feel better. 🙂
The whole single thing??? Ooow baby let me imagine you spitting on my forehead too ?? I don’t get it? Was this a joke.
The spitting thing was to Rocketman…. he’d commented that when he was younger his grandmother would spit on his forehead and make the sign of the cross to cure him.
I found it amusing. 🙂
As far as the “single thing”…. one thing I’ve noticed over the years is that single people can’t wait to find someone, whereas the people who are married are often anxious to get out of it because they feel stifled and trapped. Interesting irony.
Anyway, no offense was meant to anyone, of course.
Sorry if my answers were confusing.
I hope you’re ok out there.
Yes I’m good my friend.
**sniff sniff**
Had a great dinner now I’m watching a freaky creepy movie. ttyl!!!
bah, a long time ago i like them so much i bought them as candy. 🙂
I remember there was another brand that was also delicious like candy….
Smith Brothers, maybe?…?
Cordless, THAT’S THE ONES!! HA HA!
Getting sick is awful. My roommate always gets sick and often passes it over to me. I cant stand when I have a flu/cold type of thing. I usually don’t get it often but when I get it I usually get it pretty bad. I don’t do flu shots. I don’t believe they work. I believe more in letting the body fight the flu off with its natural fighting mechanisms. Well. I hope you get better soon. Hang in there. Drink a lot of fluids.. like water and orange juice and try to get some sleep. for me that works best. Fluids and sleep. >> I was inspired by your post to get me some ice-cream. I had 2 Klondike bars tonight. What would you do for a Klondike bar?? LOL I love Ice-cream.
One nice thing is that I usually don’t get colds/flu, so that must mean that generally I’m able to fight them off pretty well.
In another week or so I should be back to my old self.
(Or, if rocketman is right, it may take a month or so.)
I’ve never gotten flu shots either; I remain unconvinced that they really work.
They design them to fight the flu strain they THINK will be prevalent that year, but sometimes they pick the wrong one and there’s a completely different strain going around.
So I just do what you said, and let my body fight it off on its own.
Yay for fluids and sleep!
And ice cream. 🙂
They work Cordless. All vaccinations work. Nothing is ever 100%. The benefit of the flu shot is if you do get the flu it will be less serious and you are less likely to die of complications from pneumonia. There is a strain this year that the flu shot didn’t cover completely.
Cordless, I HAD THE FLU SHOT. different strain for sure pretty much respiratory kind of thing.
Is the title your rendition of “The Sick Block Tango?” 😛
Yes!
Just imagine latin-rhythmic combinations of coughing, sneezing, nose-blowing, throat-clearing, grumbling, the “whoosh” of the c-pap breathing mask, and the rustle of sheets while I roll over in bed. Meanwhile the germs are doing all sorts of seductive tango-type dances with one another.
I was going to add various toilet-related sounds too, but perhaps some things are better left to the imagination.
Best thing to do: sleep it off covered with tons of blankets.
drink some red grapefruit and some orange juice. Lots of Viamin C
And water, water does wonders for you.
I am very, VERY good at sleeping things off. 🙂
If it ever becomes an Olympic sport, I will be glad to represent whatever country I happen to be sleeping in at the time.
I have to tell you it would be a hard competition if I ever get to represent my contry… (and meds wouldn’t be alowed) so who wins: the one that falls sleep faster, the one that sleeps for a longer time or the one that may sleep more times in a row? I would get medals in different categories anyway.
At least my depression would pay off some way.
Sometimes it takes me forever to fall asleep, but once I’m there I can stay there for a V-E-R-Y- -L-O-N-G time.
I’d definitely lose if it was a contest for who could fall asleep the fastest.
If you’re not allergic to propolis try any sort of propolis sugar free lozenges. Sugar free because they’re usually more soothing. A propolis spray helps too, but only if it contains no menthol. Those seems to help me quite a lot when my throat gets even more sore than usual, lol.
I’ve never heard of propolis!
I remember when I was younger I loved these sugar-free lozenges called “N’ Ice”.
I loved them because of the lemon-lime flavor, and also because of how smooth they were.
I guess the brand is still out there, but they changed the recipe somehow; it just doesn’t taste the same these days, and doesn’t have the same smoothness.
I miss sleeping so much.
How long has it been?
about a year now. it really is a form of torture.
Im so sorry, thanaturge. Insomnia is a kind of Hell. You have my best wishes.
That is the prettiest ice cream I have ever seen.
Hope you feel better soon. While I’ve had cold flu-liket viruses many times in my life, I’ve only had actual influenza once. Wow, it is REALLY BAD. I had received the flu shot that year, but then a new severe strain came along that wasn’t covered by the shot and I caught it.
*cold and flu-like
