Alaska is gorgeous. Went there nine years ago. I envy you. Just one of the many fascinating things about Alaska is that many small towns have populations of no more than 200 to 300.
I’m not in Alaska but I want to go, was my goal for this year. I am in a city in the NW, so figured it’s close enough that it wouldn’t be too expensive to get up there. These dreams are kinda broken now.
Where did you go in Alaska? It all sounds lovely. I would also like to see the Northern Lights. I had or still have a fascination with anything north or arctic.
Anyway, I started off in Anchorage, which is just a big city like any other. Then went South to coastal Seward, which was gorgeous. I took a cruise to see a glacier there. Then, up North by train to Denali National Park, which was amazing … stayed in a riverside cabin on the way there. Finally, on to Fairbanks … took a bus trip up to the Arctic circle, which was kinda cool.
Saw a lot of cool stuff – Siberian huskies that they groom for sled races, glaciers, grizzly bears with cubs, elk, moose, small towns, my first snow, sunlight till midnight … learned some history and cool facts.
Did all that over about 10 days. Didn’t get to see the Northern Lights, though. I was 2 months too early.
Denali and all you mentioned would be lovely. I’m glad you experienced Alaska. I wish for it too, but I know I won’t now. The song is in a movie that took place in Denali.

Oh, I misunderstood. You said “came here”.
