There has never been a Time in Human history where there has been basically an unlimited supply of Healthy Nutrition from across the Globe right down the street in a convient grocery store,
Super–Hyper–Ultra–Cool–Advanced–Technology right at Our finger tips and around You.
You literally have access to All the Knowledge of the world right in front of you, right now on your phone or computer,
More Human diversity and openness then ever before,
More people then ever to try out new relationships,
if you failed in one city, go homeless for 6 months and save up money to move somewhere else and use that time to work on yourself and try again in a new area.
What is the hold up?
What is the root cause of your depression?
Are you sad you had someone close to you die? There has been millions and millions and millions of people who have died before, if not billions…. This is not something new and is an Absolute thing that will happen to us ALL. Death of family and friends is celebrated as a good thing in some cultures. Sadness??? Are you sad because you broke up with someone or have health problems? Mmmmillions. we are all experiencing shit together. all the more to love others, and live our lives to the fullest, and to the service of good and others.
you are not alone.
if you are not acting suicidal out of attention, then shift your perception, thats literally all it takes.

The industrial revolution and its consequences have been disastrous for the human race.
industry has been far more helpful to humans then disastrous.
if your that adverse to the industrial revolution, then throw away everything you own that was a byproduct of it and is making your life easier. including your device you use to type your comment.
because its that bad for us all you say
It was a reference to Ted Kaczynski’s Manifesto, look it up.
I think it’s the “shifting of perception” that is the sticking point. How do you make yourself feel desirable emotions? How do you make yourself feel love and compassion, rather than hatred & apathy? Shit, how do you make yourself do anything, when you feel exhausted all the time?
“There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so”. But some people aren’t able to produce the desirable thoughts in response to reality. That may be because they have particularly dysfunctional patterns of thinking (in my case), or because they’ve been exposed to aspects of reality that most don’t experience (people who have trauma), or both.
So, in my case, I think sufficiently “shifting my perception” would probably require decades of work with a professional at the top of their game. Without that, I’m left waking up every morning hating existence & humanity in general, struggling to focus my mind on the things I need to continue to survive.
The mind isn’t something that’s in our control. It’s what produces us. We can’t just flip a switch and be smiley happy people. We can influence it and shape it going forward, but when you’re depressed, you’re constantly fighting your own mind to get anything done.
It isn’t that simple. You can’t just shrug off serious trauma, I’d be interested for you to bring this approach up to people with PTSD. Sure, lots of horrible things happen, but other people experience the same….
My whole life I’ve had people without my problems telling me ; “just be happy”, and if I had it within me to do that, I certainly wouldn’t be on here. I work hard every day trying to get some control of my life. I’m glad for you that your life has been that simple, but you haven’t lived my life, and thank God for that, it’s bad enough I have to.
It doesn’t take decades, it takes moments; it just takes concentration/”willpower”. In my experience, I’ve never been able to achieve it without marijuana. Of any conceivable available routes, implementing habits seems like the best to me, I just haven’t been in an opportunistic position to practice those habits. No one to talk to, no one to practice on..
Isolated Failure I don’t mean to be rude when I say this, but I find your post lacking empathy. I am no longer depressed, But when I was, stuff like this may not have helped at all. If it were this easy, people would do it. TRUST ME I would have done ANYTHING to not feel the way I did.
I think more helpful advice would be to seek help. As redundant as that sounds, I think there are some great medication options out there for depression. These even include natural less conventional ways of treating it like shroom tea doses and ayahuasca.
This post has, “Get over your depression” energy. And that has NEVER worked. If anything that will make people suppress their emotions or it may trigger them.
