How long has it been, dear Lucy Blue?
Since the world gave up on you?
When there was nothing else to do
But toss and turn and ‘ventually fall through?
Lucy Blue, I see the glass.
“Did you break this mirror?” I ask.
Sadness follows the shadows cast
Along the wall and in your past.
Lucy Blue, how hard was it,
When they saw your wrist was bit?
A little mark, a tiny slit,
Your precious eyes have lost their glit’.
My Lucy Blue, why do you weep?
I know how hard it is to keep
On walking in the ocean deep
But soon I’ll lay you down to sleep.
Lucy Blue, I love you too
But now I have to bid adieu.
Until the morning is cased in dew,
No longer can I be with you.
Lucy Blue, it’s me, not you.
I do not know what else to do.
I shall say my love was true.
Don’t look at me like that, Lucy Blue.
Lucy Blue, please do not mourn.
Deep in my heart, there was a thorn.
Keeping me ill, with ghostly adorn.
Go ahead, I know you’ll scorn.
Lucy Blue, I’ll be leaving now.
To the ocean I’ll fall down.
Sweat beads slowly on my brow,
And I jump.
Suddenly.
Silently.
In the middle of the night
With you, unknowingly, right behind.
I love you, my dearest Lucy,
Who will always follow me
Down to the sea.
And jump ahead, so carelessly.
Lucy Blue, I am you.
The innocence lost in a tragic slew
Of words that fell and have been strewn
Across your wrist, I never knew…
I’m sorry, Lucy Blue.
I have failed you.
