What are the effects of overdosing on sleeping pills? I know it’s stupid but I can’t help but wonder. Even though I think of committing suicide I’m scared of actually doing it. Same goes for cutting – though I actually do cut but my head clears once I have the blade in my hand making cutting more difficult.

Overdosing on sleeping pills are not lethal. If you hear about people who have overdosed on sleeping pills you will have to go back to the the time that barbiturates were prescribed as sleeping aid and that’s no longer the case.
I used to take over 30 OTC Unsiom to haullicinate and feel weird. But what givemesomepeace said is very accurate.
30 ambien and went face down in the sea in the middle of the night.

You won’t die from an actual overdose sleeping pills, you can however, when mixed with alcohol suffocate on your own vomit, but I don’t think that is what you wish? Overdose by itself is not lethal, it can cause other problems which cause you not to be aware of things. But then I’m talking about possible drowning, suffocating on vomit when in combination with other pills or alcohol, or not being conscience when exposed to lethal gas. Then again, this is all, IF. Suicide is meant to be deadly, unless you want to end up in a hospital like a vegetable?
As far as I know it’s unlikely. I tried doing it with alcohol like givemesomepeace said. 1.5l of whiskey but when it came to the pills I got scared of failing and waking up with irreversible damage. I took five but I wish I’d had the courage to take the whole pack.

These people saying you can’t kill yourself by overdosing on sleeping pills are absolute idiots. Death by sleeping pill overdose is one of the most common forms of suicide among women! Are you gonna die from taking 5-10?? No, probably not…. But if you eat any more than 20-30 (obviously depending on height, weight and whether or not alcohol is involved) YOU WILL DIE!! Take it from someone who’s tried – twice. First time, I took 36 and was thankfully rushed to the hospital in time to save my life. The last time, I took 64 but immediately realized what I had done was stupid, considering what I went through the first time (i almost lost custody of my daughter) and immediately induced vomiting. I continued to make myself throw up all night long, in hopes of expelling as many as I could. I probably should have gone to the hospital but I didn’t for fear of losing my little girl. If I had known the long term side effects of the overdose, I would not have done it at all. I have difficulty keeping my balance now. I used to be a great dancer. I can’t look up at the sky, bend down or tilt my head to either side without getting dizzy. The moment I lay down in bed, the whole room spins. Driving a vehicle is no longer something I look forward to. While it is possible to survive a sleeping pill overdose – the side effects will make you want to have died.
