Half vs Half?

by thedevilisclose

One might ask you, do you see the glass as half full or half empty.

But…

Both answers are correct. (unless we’re gonna get stupid and start measuring millimeters (liters, depending on how you’re measuring it))

In my opinion, it depends on whether you are filling or emptying the glass.

Lol that’s a good one. Makes sense too. However I’m going to ask… What if you’re in a different room and I come in with a half a glass of cocoa. You don’t know if I emptied it or filled it. What do you call it now? (sorry if I broke your brain. If not YAY ANSWERS!!!! Lol)

If you came from another room with hot cocoa I’m assuming you’re drinking it so it’ll be half empty.
Another consideration is whether you want what’s in the glass to be there. I.e. If someone is peeing in a cup and it is half full that isn’t necessarily a good thing. Just saying.

it’s half full if I’m going to add something to it and half empty if I’m planning on drinking it. otherwise it’s not my problem and I probably wouldn’t think of it in any more concrete terms than [someone]’s cup or a used cup
