It’s time to revisit the classic literary works I used to love.
Sidenote-Anyone ever been to an abandoned building knowing it was a treasure lost to time? For me, it was a small opera house with dark red curtains, a long time ago.
Back then, I was all about that. Exploring the ages. It was exciting- My friend’s great grandfather built a bomb shelter himself- he prepared for everything. I remember the technicolor orange that filled the room- so ugly – and how small it was… it had a ladder to a secret tunnel, all the way to the surface. Standing in the yard, you wouldn’t notice the cement chickencoop shaped storage thing was an escape hatch-

I knew a group of kids that climbed around in the sewers for fun… I was invited but declined. Just nasty – They wanted to find a large “dungeon room” and create a mancave…

Nasty. I knew some kids like that and always steered away from them. I grew up exploring abandoned restaurants in California in my teenage years
Kids like that are too nerdy-
and That doesn’t sound very exciting.
Walking into an abandoned diner and seeing an intact red booth was the highlight of it. Gave me flashbacks to when me and my papi would go to places like that when he was still alive.
Reliving a memory- the cozy little outpost where you watch the sunset- bitter and sweet – I could relive parts of my childhood taking in those really old wood smells- my grandpa’s garage- the clutter- how he owned a shoe repair shop- the stuff I’d make spears and swords with-
Reliving it is saddening though. I’m surprised you had enough will to traverse a chain of them
