It’s natural to pick on others who are deemed to be ‘weaker’ than you. This is not only human nature. Of course there are always exceptions to the rule…
Doesn’t mean it’s ok to do this, but it happens and always will happen.
To me it depends? To pick on them in a fun loving way is because you like them and visa versa, to pick on them in a cruel way is cruel period, some people been picked on cruelly and want to do to it to another, those people will get it back 10X because of Karma. I picked on my cat it wanted to play and bit me, so I got a little rough and pissed him off! HE GOT EVEN! Trust me! 🙂
What defines and separates humans from other animals is our unique ability to surpass innate behaviour. I think there’s been a progressive, yet subtle, shift in the perception of what constitutes “weak”, and traits which are favoured and deemed necessary in today’s era can challenge the ingrained definition, which can undo the belief that it will always happen. I agree, it’s not okay. I think the anachronistic perception of strength belongs to a bygone era. With greater tolerance and acceptance of individual strength, hopefully the iniquitous behaviour will not remain.
