I don’t know. But, since people are tapping our phone calls, emails, and other things I’d say it’s possible to get caught. Being tried though, I don’t know. I feel like the government would approve of peopke killing themselves (more jobs, less housing needs… ext) but, if it’s a publicized event like on webcam… or a going away “party” where multiple people witness it and cops find out. That’s a felony maybe, but there’s bigger fish to fry. Mental health, people in the suits don’t care. It’s not terrorism if you’re only hurting yourself.
I don’t think its “illegal” to merely be on the phone with someone as they commit suicide. Now if you’re there in person that would be different because some schmuck Policeman or Prosecutor can claim you assisted them by not stopping them or getting help….Over the phone what can you do really? If anything comes up you can always say you were trying to talk them out of it….you aren’t obligated to tell them about the contents of your phone conversation unless it is necessary to the case and for a case of Suicide it isn’t….
Could you imagine what that would be like though?
Sitting in the dark, hearing nothing but sobbing on the other end of the line. Then silence of them slipping away into never ending sleep. Or a gunshot. Or the chair tipping over and the rope tightening.
How would anyone be able to it…
I think it would be a comfort to the person, an unselfish act on my part. Would it be hard? Of Course!!! If I really care about someone though I think it would be worth the small amount of pain I would suffer conidering the huge amount of pain I currently endure on an everyday basis. FYI – they never asked, I offered if they thought it would make thier exit easier.
